Hi guys,

I'm going to advertise our forum on coolminiornot.com (and maybe some other sites, depending on how it goes) and I could use some help.

I have no graphic design talent and not much experience using the tools I need to use.

We need something inspiring that will encourage people to click on the logo and visit our forum. I was thinking about a collage of member photos but I'm not sure it would work.

Therefore, I thought we could have a competition to see who can come up with the best logo (see the dimensions, file size limits below)

From coolminiornot....

"Ads should be 728x90, 100kb or less and may be in GIF,JPG or Flash file formats. Flash files should not pop up or pop under additional windows. (Flash advertising is not automated, please contact us for details.)"

Post your pics here and we'll vote on them, +5 Karma for the winner !

PS. I think we should include some text that refers to our site being a very friendly one (I think it's our best selling point).

Eg. "The fiendliest place to hang your axe in the Warhammer World !"

Do you have any colour schemes you want to stick with?

Hi Konrad, I've gone with this one for now... I'm just waiting for coolminiornot to get back to me. Post your image idea(s) and we'll use it(them) for the next adverts or I'll use it on the blog to advertise the forum.

Image

I know it's not very good but it's the best I could do. I have photoshop but I sure don't know how to use it properly. Worse than that, because of my experiences with it I can't stand using it now. Everything seems so confused, I must be too used to Microsoft right click context menus because I don't have a clue where to look for things in Photoshop :(

Let me know if you come up with something in the next day or 2 because coolmini might not have come back to me so I could swap the banner.

So far what I have. Was thinking of animating it.

First symbol is painting thread, vampire is army threads, then helpful people and then friendly members.

Was thinking that they all start slightly greyed. Then as brackets pass over the icons ( icon )m they light up one at a time, showing information in the center.

I'll be interested to see what it looks like Konrad. I'm not sure it's Warhammery enough though.

At the moment, I'm still waiting for coolmini to get back to me ! I'm offering them money and they haven't even replied yet ?!

Your right.. It isnt very warhammery.

Next try...

Those weapons at the bottom are a bit tacky cos everyone bloody uses them. If you have any ideas about what to chuck in there, just yell out.

This is just a little idea I had. Take it or leave it as you see fit.

Start with the current banner, only remove the pictures on either side. Once you've done that, take some pictures of member models and make a gif that rotates them on one side of the banner. On the other side, you could display the army symbol associated with the pic in question.

So it would be set up like this:

Army Symbol _____Battle{}Reporter_____Model Pic

Only problem with that is the model pics will have to be very small. Due to the height restrictions. So you will not be able to see much of the detailing.

Height is restricted to about 80 pixels after you take out border width and then spacing.

Ill give an example of what a model would look like after being shrunk to that height and see how it looks when I finish work tonight.

Just a thought on the minitures pictures. why not do close ups of faces/head and bodies as opposed to shrinking the whole image. This way you have a smaller source (once you have cut the relavent section) to shrink down a bit.

for example with the picture about instead of shrinking the whole image you would say cut our the head and then shrink that.

It obviously doesn't have to be the head it could just be an area of interest on a mini.

I personally don't think we need any pics of models, since that isn't really the main purpose of the forum. I think simple is better. All we need is the basic info. Something like this...Image
