Lol, ok. I just put it in as a joke really. but I know what you're saying.

Let me have a think, I need a slightly tongue in cheek name for the rule but maybe something less silly :)

Possible new unit being added...

Octobipods or Octoids (much is left to decide). I'd love to hear what you think, here are the details:-

Octobipod unit design notes / ideas / feedback

Thanks Goth, I'm certainly enjoying the design phase and also testing them out on the field of battle. It's quite cool taking your own custom built army into a fight, now for the hard work... painting it and coming up with all the back ground fluff ! Gulp.

Like the idea behind the Octo unit - will make people think quite carefully about their army choices with the requirement that you take an Octopus Giganticus.

Could mean Nauticans could field a Octupus themed army if you worked it right

Thanks Kiwi, I'm still pondering the unit. As you know, I'm not quick !

If the Empire were in flames and I was the real Sigmar, it would probably have all burnt down before I had declared... "right, I have decided... call out the fire brigade !"

btw, it's actually Octopus Giganteus - latin, or should I say Ancient Nautican ;)

I'm not totally sure out the Octobipods right now, I need to have a play around in my head. I love the miniature though so I should try to include it. Annoyingly, Armorcast minis haven't emailed me back yet about the base size :( maybe they actually do other stuff at the weekend ;)

I watched the Ashes most weekend myself and it was... emotionally draining and a big escape !

New rare unit Octobipods added, replaces Man o' War unit which has been removed.

Overall, I'm pleased with the effect it has on the army list. Saddened because I liked the Man o' War but had to be practical about miniature availability and the lack of enthusiam the Man o' War received by the readers.

The unit composition is starting to feel quite nicely balanced now, the army has definitely becomes tougher and stronger, wlthough still slightly underpowered possibly.

I'll start some new discussion about this once we have some more playtesters. I plan to do a massive amd I mean massive push on the promotion front so hopefully we'll get more takers for playtesting soon.

I found out that the base size of the Kithix miniatures is actually 40mm, for some reason I was convinced they were 25mm.

Anyway, they're the best miniatures I can find for that unit so I've changed the lobstrosity profile to match the miniatures. It's only a small change, +1 wound and a slight points deduction.

The base size and unbreakable quality put me off adding another attack, we already have the Weresharks and Octobipods which are more combat oriented. This means that with only 2 attacks for a base size of 40mm the Lobstrosities are no more of a defensive "blocking" unit than an offensive one.

Let me know what you think.

Makes it interesting and does mean you have a lot of 40mm base units in the army now how does that influence the balance of the overall list?

Apologies for not being able to play test since my last Nautican v Gobbos list, been in tournament mode looking to get back into Nauticans soon though

Hi Kiwi,

Yes, it does mean there are more 40mm bases thatn I had planned for. The lobstrosity should remain balanced, albeit slightly more defensive in nature now. I'm not sure how these changes will affect the army balance yet. I need to do more playtesting - I have a 2250pts battle vs Lizardmen on Saturday. I'll let you know how it goes.

PS. Thanks for the previous playtesting. You shouldn't feel boliged to playtest more, just do it if you want to, it's just a hobby work in progress really - there's no rush (unless GW decide to come out with a Sea Based army and we want to get there first ! Lol - wishful thinking :)

sigmar i like its the sort of thing i do when i bored. one issue is the wave breakers: they are too many points for what you get unless this is an elite army

Hi Orcy, my opponent and I spotted the Wavebreaker issue (albeit later than you did !). I was thinking of upping their strength by 1 and leaving the rest of their profile and points cost the same.
