I did TDS mainly by myself with a few submitted articles (I also did the layout of Gold and Glory issue 2) so I know the problems of getting a webzine going.

Biggest problem is ARTISTS. You need covers and some internal artwork to break up the monotony of text. My only artist does B&W sketches, I'm still looking for someone to do full colour artwork.

Covers can be interesting, like featuring something in the articles or you could have a theme that all your issues have (Like Mad Magazine or the old George Magazine).

I think I might have an artist who will be interested. He has worked on some of the great Nautican Artwork, including the front cover.

I know what you're saying though, finding artwork has been the biggest challenge putting together the Nautican Army list (if anyone reading this hasn't got a clue what I'm talking about then paste this into your browser... naut1.blogspot.com )

I think the Red Goblin suppliment will suck up about 4 pages, maybe more if we can work in some pictures and/or art work.

I also want to do a 1-2 page article for both the Chaos Dwarfs (Maybe a short piece about the differences between them and regular Dwarfs.) and Lizardmen (Possibly a short article about the merits of different Stegadon builds).

Doing a little article for the Painting/Modeling competition would work nicely too. The first page of it could include the rules, then jave a couple of pages of pictures to show all the entries, followed by one page with pictures of the winning model(s) and a short article about the model/modeler.

I hope you can find someone that is good with Desktop Publishing. There are a few free programs for Desktop Publishing but unless you are a quick learner find someone that has experience.

I'd be willing to do some form of thing about my 40K army that I'm working on and something about Empire.

Also I'm willing to do some fanfic and something RPG related.

I'm 12 but I'm a quick learner computer wise. And my dad and step-dad are computerish wise so they can help. Throw me a link to the program I can give it a shot. If I can't then one of you is sure to be able to do it.

I've used a couple of Desktop Publishing Programs over the years. The one I'm currently using is available free and they offer resonable upgrades time to time by email. It's called Page Plus SE (Google it or Free Desktop Publishing Programs) there is another one out there but I didn't like it as much. For professional look you need experience. Gold and Glory issue two was supposed to be done by somebody learning the program but it was taking him too long to learn so I volunteered to help them. And I say I'm still learning.

NO, I'm not volunteering here. I'm still working on The Doom Seeker and I'm still on the staff of Gold And Glory.

There are a couple of different looks for webzines out there. The High Graphic style (Word of Hashut) with image backgrounds for nearly every page of a simple style if the second issue of Gold and Glory and of The Doom Seeker. Neither is right or wrong but you have to decide how you want your webzine to look and try and keep it consistant over the issues. From how many columns per page to page size itself, from paragraph spacing and font type and spacing make it yours.

I have experience designing printed materials but it takes a lot of time and work - plus we would need good source material (art mostly) to make it look good.

I would suggest starting small - almost like an issue #0 where the team can get a feel for the style, direction, content, time required, etc.

Start small and build! Have a clear direction in mind and it would be best if there was one serious editor willing to look at all the content and pull/change things that "don't make the cut".

Recently I've been publishing/copyrighting several works of fiction based in the Warhammer Fantasy World. I'd be happy to supply a weekly (or however often the periodical is published) short story. I've attached two writing samples in a format I hope works for people. Let me know what you think, many thanks,

Nico

if you can use stuff like this then I can help you out a bit. Obviously, this is not aimed at the tournament audience, and that disclaimer should be in there.
