I can right a "news article". Well, atleast I can do a Dwarf or O&G news thing. Maybe some other peeps can pitch in to get a half a page or full page in.

The internet has been down since about this time yesterday, so I had a lot of time to work on other things. One of the things I did was roll around a couple of ideas for the ezine.

Best Warhammer Moment: Pick a few of our favorate Warhammer moments (We've done a couple of threads in the past that may be a good source for this)

Worst Warhammer Moment: Pick a few of our worst/most emberising Warhammer moments (Again, we have done a couple of threads in the past that may be a good resource for this)

Shiny Stuff: We can take some of the member ideas for magic spells, magic items and that kind of thing If we get half a dozen people to submit ideas, we could easily fill a couple of pages. In the past we have done a "Make your own Spell" thread, so it might be fun to expand on that idea somewhat.

Moderator/Member interview:Someone can come up with a series of questions and have a little discussion with a prominent mimber of this community. They could be asked about how they got into the hoby, what their thoughts on the subject are, what armies they play and why, and what they plan to do regarding the hobby in the future.

Do wider pages to they fit screen better: Since a ezine is usually viewed on someones computer instead of being printed out, maybe we could try running the magazine on a wider/shorter page so it fits people's monitors better. (Watchman did this for a couple of issues)

Legalities: Most of the ezines I have seen have a little something for legal reasons, stating its not an official magazine, that they dont own Games Workshop, Warhammer, or anything else made by GW. That kind of thing.

Excellent ideas Guardian,I'd also like to suggest some form of member gallery, say 2-3 pages of member models.

Maybe do a "Featured Member" gallery, that way you could do the little interview and post some of their models/armies throughout the article?

On the legalities put in the disclaimer but also do not put in images you don't have rights to, don't swipe images from GW's site to fill webzine.

Tell all people who submit to the publication that they have givien you permission to publish.

Do not put in stats/points of official models (unless they are made up units by members). Don't print anything from their books (you may be able if properly noted but the lawyers would be involved quickly.) I heard rumors that Word of Hashut had to redo a few issues because of GW lawyers.

Thanks for the feedback BilboBaggins, its nice to have your experienced insights to help guide us along. +1 Karma for all the help!

In other words:

Post pictures of your own models and member models, but not pics of models from Games Workshop, White Dwarf or any other official source.

Dont submit it if you dont want it published for the world to see. If you get help from others or use pictures of models that someone else had done, then get their permission before submitting it.

And if you have something included in your entry that would normally have official stats/immages/or other materials, simply list where to find that information instead of including it in your submission. My Red Goblins book is a good example of this, All of the units I created for the book are included, everything I took directly from the Orcs & Goblins book I simply listed the name of the unit and said to refer to the O&G book for further details and stats.

wow, some nice feedback so so far. Esp thanks to Bilbo for sharing some publishing experience. I'll check out the software you mentioned and take into account all the IP/copyright stuff (I already do this for the Nauticans so I know what you mean).

I'll leave this up for more contributions and in a few days see if I can summarise what we have discussed so far and who's offered to contribute and what we might have in the way of content.

Thanks gyus,
Sigmar

If you find any good artists ask if they would work on the webzines I do to, you can never have enough artists. :D

Another idea I had. We can use the new chat option for member interviews or forum meetings. Depending on what those interviews or meetings are about we could use them in the ezine.

A Member interview (or spotlight) is used in at least two other webzines. It's not a bad idea, I'm not sure TDS will use it but Word of Hashut and Gold and Glory do. Depending how it's done it can be interesting. Having that member's army featured in the issue I would consider nearly a must.

Just put all the active members names in a hat and interview the first one that comes out.

I'd start with Sigmar. We could interview him about his start in Warhammer, this site, his Nauticans, and what he forsees for the future. Then move on to some of the Hammerer of the Month winners. But thats just me.

Nice idea Guardian. Ya, Sigmar, then the latest 3 Hammerers, then names out of a hat.
