If anyone has been following my "I need help" thread I've recently started a Dark Elf force as something a little different to my Daemons. It is likely that once I come up with a list I'll be looking at the usual combo of Repeaters Xbows and large blocks of Spearmen. All I know at the moment is I'll probably be taking two Hydras and some Cold One Knights (maybe Dreadlord on Dragon if I can swing the points with everything else I want).

My question is about the Battalion. It "contains" 12 Spearmen and 18 RXBmen, as you get both options in a normal regiment set I was wondering if the same is true of the larger box? Could you, in fact, make 30 Spearmen or 30 RXBmen if you wanted or are you limited to what they actually say? I'm not bothered about the Corsairs to be honest but once I write my list I need to work out if battalions are more effective than regiments.

Cheers Orcy, now I need to come up with my list so I can see what is more cost effective, the Battalion or the individual boxes. I already have a unit of Cold One Knights but I don't think they are something I can have too many of.

My mate bought the battallion box set and made them all into Repeater Crossbowmen.
