Does anyone use Golgfags / Golfags (spelling ?) Mercenary Ogres ?

I'm in two minds as to whether or not I should sell mine. I was thinking of using them with my Empire army (I usually battle against a goblin and orc army)

I'm not sure if they're worth the points cost ?

I got a hold of 4 of them a couple of weeks ago. I plan to use them with my Orc & Goblin army. I dont think I'll end up using mercenaries much, but some of the ones that "Fit" nicely into existing armies will probably find their way into those armies in my collection. On the other hand, after playing a few games my feelings on the matter might change.

I picked up 5 of them over a year ago for, wait for it.... £6.50 GBP, I think that was about $12 USD at the time, not bad eh ?!

Anyway, I am still yet to use them although I'm considering it for a game against Dark Elves. Not sure yet. I'm fielding Dwarfs so probably don;t really need any more hard hitters, Dwarfs hit hard enough themselves

I'm hoping to pick up the box set (10 figures) cheap when I get a chance, then build them up to about 20 figures by the time I'm done. I really enjoyed the back story associated with the unit, so I'd like to give them a try even if they dont prove worth their points.

Sounds like you got a pretty good deal on them. I think I payed about $9 USD for the four I have (Unpainted, still in the blister packs). Are yours metal too? Or are they plastic?

I currently use them in my WoC army as Ogres with Heavy armour and Additional Hand Weapons.

In my upcoming DoW army I plan to use them as the RoR if I have the points as they are probably worth it. Yes they are an extra 10 points per ogre but you do get heavy armour, additional hand weapon which works out as good value.

RoR Ogre = 45 points (Heavy armour and extra hand weapon)
DoW Ogre = 35 + 3 + 6 = 44 points (Light armour and extra hand weapon)

The cost problem comes from paying for Golgfag and Skaff but you are getting a hero level character with Ld 8 for the extra points.
