Hey Sigmar
I just bought a painte Ogre army off of ebay for my youngest son. He is interested in it and I hope to get him going in the hobby. I think I got the ebay link from your blog as well. Got a good deal and my sons getting excited so I hope it will turn in to some more games for me at home. Either way its a start.

One of my closer friends has a decent sized Ogre army and having played against it a fair amount I feel I understand their dynamics fairly well.

I am an Ogre player.
A brand new Ogre player.

I bought the starter box + bulls box + tyrant + butcher + Gorger.

I have 8 bulls and a Gorger that are assembled and primed black.
Still need to assemble and prime 4 more leadbelchers, a bruiser (going to convert an Irongut, and the butcher.

I am going to use Rotting flesh as my final skin colour, probably ontop of some brown (bestial brown and/or snakebite and/or bubonic need to experiment a little).

By the way for those of you who can read french check out this 300 page book:

"le Grand Livre de Peinture sur Figurines"

EXCELLENT!

How many points does that add up to RagePreacher ? Also, the box you referred to, I assume that's the battalion ?

I am thinking of a new army myself and am tempted by Beasts of Chaos or Ogres. I was going to go for Dark Elves but my regular gaming buddy has dived in there first. I'm not sure about Warriors of Chaos yet, I'll need to see the list to see if it inspires me.

I have seen glimpses of the warriors of chaos army and I will be getting back on that bandwagon again. I won't buy a lot of the new models as I am in the middle of some Knights of Slannesh to add to my horde and I like the existing knights as well. The new stuff looks great but I have to many other projects on the go to start on a bunch of new chaos models. The book looks great and once again the chaos warriors will be a force to reckon with.

I've seen some rumors of the new Warriors of Chaos book and it does pretty nasty. Should be an interesting mix to see how it compares with the rest of the new army books (like VCs and DE)

I've seen a lot fo stuff floating around too, the new mortal warriors look ace, characters and knights etc... but I can't see much in the special/rare slots that excites me. I'm still holding out that they will release new Dragon Ogre models, I remember the current ones coming out in the 80's.

The interim, temporary army list that they published in White Dwarf (Chaos Warriors Army Book pdf) seemed a bit lacking in variety to me but I agree with Engineer the models are ace.

To answer your question sigmar...
the army I posted above adds up to 1,000pts.
that is:
1 butcher
1 bruiser
1 gorger
8 bulls
4 leadbeltchers

In the battalion box I have left over:
lots of gnoblars
4 bulls
4 ironguts

Hmmm, extra Ironguts I see you have...

I'm currently putting together a 2000 point ogre army and need some more of these delicious gut. Ant chance you would part with those for a small price? :P

I am working on increasing my ogre battalion (used as DoW until now) into a full Ogre army. Right now I'm in the middle of painting 30 Gnoblars.

Here are my current conversions - not yet painted. I'm too miserly to buy metal, so I decided to convert Bulls into characters.

Here's the first Butcher. I might yet add fur to his boots. I fact, I might do the same to the others in this post, as I notice in the book that nearly all characters have fur round the top of their boots!

Here are the two maneaters - one with a longsword, the other with a brace of handguns. I am happier with the latter cf. the former, as since this pic 'I have re-done his hat. It looked like it was tottering comically on his noddle, so I cut it off, scalped the guy, and put the hat back on. It looks like it fits now, kind of 'Spaghetti Western' style.

Here's a tyrant, who could double as a great weapon armed Maneater instead. The coat with metal plates is 'cos I really want it to look like heavy armour.

And my second Butcher ...

I haven't got a pic of my army standard bearer yet - but will do soon. I like him best of all, which is ironic as I don't have a pic!

I suppose I ought to put pics of my painted Ogres also, to show the battalion I am expanding on.

Here's my basic Bulls:

And my Ironguts:

And my favourites, big xxxxers with guns:

Some nice models! I'm looking forward to seeing the conversions at the beginning of your post once they are painted!

some nice models there....

I have in my ogre collection:

6 bulls
16 ironguts
8 gnoblar trappers
4 leadbelchers
2 gorgers
1 slavegiant
Tyrant
2 Butchers
Brusier
Hunter

So it's okay enough for now but growing... Ogres are my newest army for sure....

I'd love to try out those Rhinox riders, but may have to wait until the new book (hopefully they'll be added) as forgeworld is just a little too pricey!!!
