I have an Empire army that I have been looking at for a month or more now. I was actually getting ready to start building it when I heard about the new Empire Uniform Book. Since then I've been waiting for it to come out. So yeah, I plan to pick it up.

Got the book today. Its a beautifully done book. It has a lot of rich history and information about the Empire. Plus, every page has full color drawings of uniforms, banners, & shields. It also has several "Famous Regiments" scattered throughout the book. My only dissapointment is that it dosnt have any step-by-step painting guides.

I highly recomend the book to anyone who is interested in the Empire!

You could scan the banner patterns, print em out and stick them down

Not only could you scan the banners and shields to print out for transfers, but they look like they were planned so you can do just that! The size is almost perfect!

I think that when I start painting my Empire army, I'm going to try doing a lot of the "Famous Regiments" they have listed in the book. There is a lot of neat ideas in it.

I decided to take a quick picture to show the scale between the actual shields & banners and the ones in the book. Pictured is a random page of the new book with a Empire Knights Shield sprue and a banner from an Empire State Troops sprue. You will see that the banners are almost perfect. And the shields will need to be resized a little to fit on the actual shields, but at least the pictures in the book are a little bigger so you will keep the picture quality when you resize the picture.

Now if we can only get GW to do a book like this for all the other armies, . . . . . .

Also got the book today and I agree it is great. I would not say it has 'rich' history of the Empire - it is really a very brief overview using very little text. But the pictures are just great and make me wanna paint right now!

I agree that it dosnt have a lot of general history, bit it has history on a lot of famous regiments, and it gives history about why different states use the colors and symbols that they do.

I'm curious, does anyone else plan to use the new Uniform & Heraldry book as a guide for painting their Empire Army? Once I get a couple of other projects done, I want to start my Empire army by making a few of the "Famous Regiments" in the book. I'm thinking that the Company of Honor/Sons of the Reik and the Deathjacks will be a great place to start!
