Engineering Runes

It says in the Dwarf Codex "Dwarf Cannons, Grudge Throwers and Bolt Throwers may be inscribed with up to three of the engineering runes described below."

Does that mean that I can choose any 3 runes I want for a Cannon for instances, with no points limit? So I could choose Rune of Forging, Rune of Reloading and Rune of Fortune?

If you have more than one war machine they cannot have the same combination of Runes.
You cannot have two Master Runes on a single machine or two of the same master run in the army.
And best of all, engineering runes make attacks from the war machine MAGICAL.

By same combination, you mean you can't use the same rune twice? Or do you mean you can use Rune of Reloading and Rune of Fortune on one machine, and Rune of Reloading and Rune of Forging on another, but not the combination of Rune of Fortune/Reloading again? :/

You could have Fortune, Reloading and Forging on one machine
the Next Could have to be Fortune and Reloading but if a third then something different.

So if you have 3 machines you want Reloading and Forging on you would have to do like this
Machine one Reloading and Forging (3rd optional)
Machine two Reloading and Forging and third rune (different than 1)
Machine three Reloading and Forgind and third rune different than 1 and 2

Another question just to make sure I'm correct. ^_^

I understand Bilbo when he had 3 machines, with 2 of the same runes and the 3rd one being different. But what if I went Rune of Reloading and Rune of Forging and Rune of Burning on one machine, and just Rune of Reloading on a second machine? Would that still be legal since its technically a different combination? If thats legal then would Rune of Reloading and Rune of Forging on a 3rd machine also be legal?

Yep, all those are totally legal, but who uses 3 cannons? :lol:

RO Reloading on a cannon is a waste of points, runic options for warmachines follow the standard rule of 3

- No MR can be used more than once per army
- No more than 3 runes per item/warmachine
- No combination can be used more than once per army

Standard runic builds for Warmachines are

Cannons - RO Forging
Bolt-Throwers - RO Penetrating & RO Burning
Grudge Thrower - RO Accuracy & RO Penetrating

Don't forget to give them all Engineers

Just to clarify by waste of points for RO Reloading on Cannon - it is because with the RO Forging and Engineer you can basically avoid misfires on anything except the bounce meaning that you can always fire EVERY turn regardless.
