It was a still afternoon. The sun was blazing on the body-ridden battlefield. Night Goblins and Dwarves lay dead or dieing on the ground yelling and screaming for help, but none came. All the surviving warriors were still fighting. The Goblins had the Dwarves surrounded as they were protecting the valuable gold filled caravan on its way to Karaz-A-Karak. The Dwarves new they'll probably die so they stood still, all except for the caravan leader, Morgrim Grudgebelly. He had faced these foul Night Goblins before and he knew of their leader, Prackitt Toothpuller, he also knew they had a powerful shaman on their side, Zag Wortfinger. Filled with hatred he alone marched toward Zag, as Zag had killed most of his warriors that fateful day.
"Poor fool," Prackitt snickered under his breath,"You! Troll, go get him!." Fearing the consequenses of disobeying his master the stupid troll ran towards the Dwarf Lord's flank, hoping to slaughter him before he could do much damage. Seeing the Troll start to attack the rest of the army surged forward towards the caravan hoping to get rich plunder after the battle was won. The eager Spider Riders marched quickly towards the Longbeards and the Army Battle Standard they contained within their ranks, going for the flank. The archers on the other hand were not so eager to start a fight, they only inched forward towards the menacing Dragon Slayer Mercenary to be able to get a shot in. Zag realized who the stuntie running at him was, Morfrind or something along those lines, but what he did remember clearly was the way he had slaughtered his goblin friends only weeks ago. Zag, filled with rage, attempted to burst the dwarf's brain into tiny bits, but the mighty Dwarf deflected the spell with his mighty rune etched armour. After seeing they're Shaman's spell get misfired they lost hope the tiniest bit. That tiny distraction made all of them let go of their bow strings to early, and all of their arrows landed a few feet away.
Unphased by anything the Goblins were throwing at them the Dwarves began to gain hope. The Longbeards moved toward the goblins in front of them, their army's colors flying above their heads, meanwhile Morgrim moved toward Zag thinking angry thoughts at the Night Goblin almost unaware of the Troll standing almost right by his side.
Almost ecstatic the Longbeards didn't notice them, the Spider Riders charged into their flank spears pointing towards the ground. Prackitt saw this was his time and he ran straight into the Dragon Slayer Mercenary no matter how menacing he looked, or if he wasn't a part of Morgrim's kin or not, all Prackitt wanted to do was kill beardlings. Meanwhile, his Troll was doing the right thing. It had charged the enraged Morgrim in the rear, while he was running towards Zag. Also, while the Spider Riders had the Longbeards occupied the Spearmen to the front of the short guys advanced toward them, within striking distance. On the other side of the battle, Zag once again attempted to make the poor Dwarf Lord's brain implode, casting the spell successfully. The Dwarves defense was not strong enough and the spell got through casuing multiple hits, but only one potent enough to cause damage, and that damage did occur as the mighty Dwarf's armour wasn't enough to deflect the spell and thus was weakened, but only just. Now, a good vibe was going through the army. The archers got off 7 shots at the Dwarf Thane, 3 of them hitting their mark and one even piercing his armour inflicting a wound! The charging Troll attacks the Lord 3 times, twice missing his target utterly but one managed to hit, the mighty strength of the troll wounding Morgrim but his armour protected him and he only suffered a small bruise. Morgrim attacks back 4 times, his hammer swinging in a blind fury, all of them hitting the massive Troll, one even tearing through the flesh. Unfortuantly, the Troll's flesh just binded back together at an alarming rate and they both continued fighting. The 4 Spearmen commanded by Prackitt in range of the Slayer, lunged their spears at the Mercenary hitting twice, but they were merely scratches and the Slayer fights on. Prackitt, enraged his spearmen couldn't wound a man with no armour swung his mighty club 3 times but only hits once but not even he can wound the Slayer as he takes the blow in stride. The Slayer Merc is a lot more lucky as all three of his strikes hit, wound, and penetrate the cloth robes that the Night Goblins call "armour" killing the three outright. The spiders have a bit more luck than the Spearmen, and of their 6 attacks 4 hit, 2 wound, and one penatrates the thick armour of the Dwarf killing him. Although, the remaining Dwarf able to attack kills a Goblin, and his Spider scurries away.
The thane, actually quite a bit scared of the advancing spearmen, moves behind the Longbeards to attempt to help out their flank. At the same time, Morgrim, who's much faster than the slow Troll, gets in the first few attacks. He strikes 4 times, 1 misses they all wound the thick-skinned beast and one slice is too deep to be able to heal thus inflicting a wound. The stupid Troll attacks back hitting once and wounding but only thing cracked is Morgrim's shield. The Merc swings his rune encrusted axe 3 times, hitting once, but they only tear a few goblins' cloaks. Also, only two of the four spears hit their mark but, like the Slayer, merely scratch him up a bit. The general, on the other hand, is a bit more lucky hitting and wounding the Slayer twice thus killing the Slayer as his skull is dented inward. Now, here multiple people attacked at different times. The Spiders, being the most nimble, attacked first all hitting, one pair of fangs sinking into Dwarf, but the only thing those fangs are sinking into is metal. 2 dwarves then attack back, one hitting but none strong enough to inflict a wound. Last to go are the Riders, who make a valiant effort to attack but their enemies are too far away, or perhaps the Goblins' spears aren't long enough, but no matter what the reason none hit. The Spiders, or possibly their Riders, figure that they aren't going to win and the flee away, and luckily with no pursuit.
The Spiders find that nobody is chasing them and immediatly turn around, hoping no one saw their cowardice and foolishnes of running away with no one chasing them. "March toward that Thane over there! Hopefully he'll be as easy as the Slayer was!" Prackitt yells stepping on the dented skull of the Dwarf. "You Spearmen," he yells as loud as he can,"occupy those Longbeards for a while, whilst I kill their friend here." The Spearmen obeyed their master and charged the Longbeards. Meanwhile, the Spearmen behind Prackitt struggled to keep up as he marched toward the Thane. The Shaman, seeing that the Goblins were most likely to win got a bit to anxious and cast his spell without enough force to penetrate the tough Dwarven magic shield. Morgrim, not even paying attention to the futile attempts of the Shaman behind him continued to fight the Troll. This time wounding him once more so deep it couldn't mend together fast enough. The Spearmen launched their many spears at the Longbeards, hitting 6 of them, 2 of them wounded, but only the chainmail had broken not the skin. 5 dwarves attacked back, 2 hitting, wounding, and killing the frail Night Goblins. The mighty Army Battle Standard Bearer swung his banner down three times, missing once but one unlucky Night Goblin was unlucky enough to get crushed by the heavy banner. Not caring what Prackitt would do to them, they fled a mighty distance, as the tired dwarves only ran after them for a few seconds, stopping to rest after fighting two units in a row.
