It was nice to win a game for a change, sadly though I was the Empire on this occassion and we gave the Nauticans a nasty barbequing !
the seafood analogies are endless
- and good fun
Actually, the battle was closer than I had suspected and it might have been closer if we had played to the bitter end (or even turn 6 !)
Unfortunately, we were running a little late and had to cut the game a bit short. It took a while to set this one up, looking for suitable proxy miniatures. Also, it was sunny outside so we had a couple of chats while taking in some rays (not Manta Rays !)
My enemy suprised me by bringing 3 Royal Chariots (in physical terms these manifested themselves as a Corpse Cart, A Lion Chariot and a Black Coach !)
Also, I wasn't expecting the 4 lobstrosities and 5 Manta Rays but these didn't concern me too much. I was worried about the 30 sandgangers and unit of unbreakable Trident Guard (he took Nautuno's banner). Alas, my opponent made a couple of slection errors, ie a Chanty Singer as well as the Army Standard bearer and an arcane item for a non-spellcaster. These small errors didn't really change the game much (especially not the arcane item). Although the Chanty Singer had an impact, Nautuno's standard did not, other than encouraging me to target hit Trident Guard.
I'm writing up a battle report on my design notes site:-

I'll let you know when it's done.
The return match will be agains the Empire again but this time I wil be the Nauticans and I plan to make it the Nautican's second only win !
