I got a free voucher from google - must be all those Warhammer hits

Anyway, I paid £10 (about $16 USD) and they gave me £70 in advertising vouchers.

What this means is that, anyone searching using the following keywords:-

warhammer battle forum
warhammer fantasy battles forum
warhammer fantasy forum
warhammer fantasy battle forums
warhammer fantasy battle forum

will hopefully see an advert in the right hand pane somewhere (I just tried and it didn't work so maybe it hasn't been set up yet as at 21:00 gmt today)

Anyway, there's £80 in the account which equates to 8000 clicks so the advert should stay up until it's been clicked 8,000 times ! ie probably forever I set a limit of 100 clicks per day which should see us thoruhg the next 80 days. If only 1 person per 100 joins that's still an extra member per day - fingers crossed.

Anyway, let's see how it goes, I'm quite excited about it really. I hope it gets us a few more members.

There's some reporting which comes with the account, I haven't exactly worked out what it does yet but I'll let you know what sort of clicks the advert is getting.

By the way, I forgot to mention that the advert targets the following countries:-

Australia (Country)
Canada (Country)
Denmark (Country)
Ireland (Country)
Netherlands (Country)
New Zealand (Country)
Sweden (Country)
United Kingdom (Country)
United States (Country)

Those are the English speaking countries that the main battle reporter blog seems to get the most hits from.

If you can you should try to get Poland on the list as well it has a HUGE WHFB community

I've added a load of new keywords that work, I had to raise the bid a bit for some keywords though Some of the phrases like Warhammer Fantasy are a bit more expensive so I'll leave them for now.

I've excluded references to 40k, 40,000 and Online because I think people will be searching for a different kind of forum than ours.

well, we're getting the forum's name out there pretty well, so far (in about half a day) we've had 1,198 impressions for our little advert.

Unfortunately though, it hasn't had a single click yet

I know google ads have a very low click ratio though because people are inclined to totally ignore them. Anyway, at least we have more of a presence and it's more widely spread across other keyword results - don't worry someone's going to click eventually

Hopefully clicks will result in new members because mostly I've used keywords that users will use when looking for warhammer forums.

We come up first in the search which is good. And its a very small price to pay when you think about it.

Do you fancy some more banner design work ? I tried uploading the current flash banner to google adwords (as a content banner for showing on belloflostsouls and the like) but it's too large. The.swf file can be no more than 50k

The sizes we're looking for are one or more of these:-

468 x 60 Banner
728 x 90 Leaderboard
250 x 250 Square
200 x 200 Small Square 336 x 280 Large Rectangle
300 x 250 Medium Rectangle
120 x 600 Skyscraper
160 x 600 Wide Skyscraper

The most commonly used are the 728*90, 468*60 and 160*600.
