Part of the Beasts of Chaos Tactica FAQ.

What is the best unit size and number of Gors and Ungors to include in the unit for 2000pt battles ?

Let's assume that the ambush rule will form a significant part of your tactics.

well sigmar, that's rather conjective because it all depends on how you aim to use the beast herds.

however...the general consesus is that for a combat herd, 5-7 gors and the rest made up of ungors. generally a total size of 25models, so about 20ish ungors., can squeeze that down to 13 ungors for a small combat herd, all with foe-render (champion) and musican. standard bearers can go with for an additional combat res score.

for small ambush units that are going to aim for warmachines then it's 5gors/5ungors (minimum size unit), usually naked (I.E. no command units), some say drop a foe-render in them for the additional leadership score meaning more chance of turning up in the right spot, but tha's 20pts just for the champ upgrade

remember though that warhounds can run with an ambush unit, although with thier lower LD aren't as reliable.

but those are the general ideas behind beastherds.

Excellent, thanks very much Thordoc. That's precisely the sort of tactical tips I'm looking for and I think other new Beasts players will find useful. The Foe Render is another topic altogether which I'll post shortly.

Yep, agreed. Nothing worse than a Lord character dripping with magic items, sitting on top of a Dragon with a bad attitude !

You'll like the Nautican Army once it's finished ;)
