So, I was talking with a neighbor's friend who plays 40k and we were discussing armies. The Tau army caught my......(ear?) and I decided after I get my Dwarf and Orcs&Gobbos armes up and before I get another WHFB army, I would try the Tau peeps out. So, all I heard from him is they have a bunch of tanks and machines and stuff like that. Any more weaknesses, strengths, themes, or all around knowledge on the Tau?

Yes you're spelling it right.

I wouldn't really suggest Tau but from what I understand there excel net in long range firefights lack serious combat skill and can be very good if used properly.

I prefer Space Marines,Eldar or Orks but I like to play from a background point of view.

Tau are a solid army. They have serious firepower. Railgun is Str 10. Pulse Carbines are Str 5. While not the best in hth. Kroot seriously help out with that regard. Tau also are highly mobile, and there Battlesuits make them a very fun army to play, and play against. They have a clean look to them, and have an interesting background. On a Forge World standpoint. They have some of the best flyers in the game. Only Eldar can be argued as being better.

Only units I find that operate below par for them are Vespid, and Sniper Drones. Other than that the Tau are a bane to Armoured Companies and most Horde based armies. The only real drawback they have is you can get caught up in buying to many upgrades for your guys. Leaving yourself short changed on the battlefield.

The army is colorful and diverse, and not a bad force to start with for a beginner. Hope that helps.

Ok guys, a quick update. Every time I play a game at my store during November, I get a raffle ticket. Those tickets can be put in a bin for certain armies they are giving away (already painted, assembled, etc.) And one of those armies is Tau! I really hope I get it!

Since you dont do 40K, would you mind passing on the crappy tau? There the worst army in the game, you wouldnt want them anyway. How bout I take them off your hands for ya? [/sarcasm]

Waldo, while I do know it's awfully annoying and incovienient to type out the entire proper word, could you please do type out the entire proper words, instead of some text or MSN abbreviation of words please?

There are people of age group who would not understand what's being said without throughly reading the entire thing out loud.
