A thread for competition updates on deadlines, voting dates etc.

Read all of the rules in one place on the Battle Reporter blog

This competition consists of 2 parts. If you enter Part I then you can also enter Part II.

Part I - Commanders of the Alliance (click for more details and to enter)

This is the abridged (or trimmed down) version of the competition. You choose two different Warhammer Armies (without actually selecting the individual units) and then you create a customized (or select a special) Lord or Hero character to lead the main force and a Hero level character (special or customized) to lead the allied force.

Then you explain why your allied army is unbeatable !

Part II - Armies of the Alliance (click for more details and to enter)

This extends part I of the competition and you select the full army list consisting of your main force (of 1200 points) to be lead by the Lord or Hero character you chose in Part I and your allied force (of 800 points) to be lead by the Hero character you chose in Part I.

You must observe all of the usual army book selection0 and allied army rules.

Entries : just 1 entry per member (for the meantime) into Part I and Part II (remember the characters from Part I must be included in Part II)

Deadlines :- provisional deadline to post your entry Wednesday 18th Jan midnight GMT.

There will then be as much time as people want to debate the entries. After we have a few comments and a healthy debate going we will set up the poll for voting for at least a week during which time people can change their votes if they like.

The Prizes (a Christmas and New Year give-away !) :-

- mainly respect from our Facebook and forum members plus some forum reputation (rep pts).

Competition 1 - Commanders of the Alliance

Winner +10 rep
2nd +7 rep
3rd +4 rep
All entries get +1 rep

Competition 2 - Armies of the Alliance

Winner +10 rep
2nd +7 rep
3rd +4 rep
All entries get +2 rep (extra rep because it requires more effort)

By entering both competitions you will receive at least +3 rep.

Few questions.
1st: Is Lord level general for main force must or can you still pick just a hero for the job?
2rd: Are multiple entries allowed due multipart nature of this competition?
3rd: Out of curiosity, are our unofficial armybooks valid for these competitions?

My basic force would fit to this so well that it would be sad to leave it out. However, from the competitive point of view it isn't really that effective due heavily focused and themed nature (Actually they are but that is mostly because they just seems to be damn lucky when it comes to rolling dices). Anyhow, I would like to brew something new as well... There is so many tempting options!

Hi Telepfenion,

1) The Army just needs to comply with the normal Warhammer rules (so you can choose a Hero level character to be your army general)*
2) No, just 1 entry per member for the meantime ** - it will help to focus the mind ;-) (your entry in Part I must be used as your General and Allied Commander in Part II).
3) No, unofficial army books are not allowed. (it wouldn't be fair to people who are not very familiar with them).

* that was a good question Telepfenion, thanks. I will clarify in the rules.
** If there is a big demand for more than 1 entry per member then I might change this.

*nods* Thank you for the information.

I guess I just have to make my mind if I would send Knoch to take part to this or try something... more dramatic to put up greater show.

That's quite a task, I shall get scribbling straight away and see what I can come up with.

Just one question though, you say special character (Lord/hero) to lead the main force. However, can your hero in the alliance be a special character as well as, or instead of, the one selected to lead the main force?

Hi MrSeb,

Yes, your hero in the allied force can be a special hero character. *

You can include two special characters or none at all (just custom characters). The only condition is that you must have at least a Hero level character to lead each force (normal Allied Armies rules apply re: benefiting from leadership of General / BSB, etc.)

* thanks for pointing it out, I've changed some wording to make it clearer

`Few more questions.
As we have three different topics for this competition, are we supposed to post our competitors here or under the Part 1 and Part 2 topics?
Are part one expected to be solved before part two kicks in or can we post our competitors for both right away?

I think this section is just for rule interpretation, rather than a debating page.

I have a question, but you may have answered it already. My main army is DOW, once but no longer official, does this mean I cannot use their list?

Hi Telepfenion, Coinsmith is correct this thread is only a summary of the rules and for answering questions and giving updates regarding deadlines etc.

You should enter under Part I first (which is debated separately and will hve it's own voting).

You can only enter Part II if you have entered Part I and you must include the characters you entered in Part I in your Part II army which you should list in the Part II thread.

The competitions will run at the same time so you can enter Part II before the Part I competition has ended.

Hi Coinsmith,

Yes you can use the Dogs of War army list which was once official and people will probably be more familiar with in comparison with other, completely fan made books, like Nippon or the Nauticans which cannot be used in this competition.

Some good questions guys, don't hesitate to ask if you have any others.
