Some sample 1000pt Nautican lists I've worked out for more play-testing this week

LIST 1 - Mixed
Prince, 135pts
- Scalemail, Clam Shield, Oceanic Trident, Spirit Shroud
Sandgangers x12, 72 pts
Sandgangers x12, 72 pts
Oceanic Trident Guard x25, 387 pts
- FC, Oceanic Trident, Bull Shark Banner
Giant Crabs x2, 160 pts
Coral Hunters x10, 30 pts
Coral Hunters x10, 30 pts
Tripoon Battery, 95 pts

TOTAL 993pts

Sandgangers are unbreakable, Prince causes terror, Trident Guard have eternal frenzy and Crabs are Stubborn and cause fear so nice mix.

LIST 2 - Melee Focused
Prince, 130 pts
- Scalemail, Claim Shield, Snake o Nine Tails
Prince, 130 pts
- Scalemail, Clam Shield, Spirit Shroud
Coral Hunters x10, 30 pts
Coral Hunters x10, 30 pts
Coral Hunters x10, 30 pts
Coral Hunters x10, 30 pts
Oceanic Trident Guard x18, 282 pts
- FC, War Banner
Oceanic Trident Guard x18, 315 pts
- FC, Oceanic Tridents, Bullshark Banner

TOTAL 977 pts

Put terror causing Prince with 1st unit of Trident guard and snake o nine tails prince with frenzied unit, should be fun.

LIST 3 - Magic focused
Siren Lvl 2, 200 pts
- Muses Harp, Dispel Scroll
Siren Lvl 2, 190 pts
- Coral Amulet, Talisman of Cougar
Wavebreakers x20, 180 pts
- Scalemail, Spears, FC
Wavebreakers x20, 180 pts
- FC, Clam Shields, Spears
Manta Rays x3, 90 pts
Giant Crabs x2, 160 pts

TOTAL 1,000 pts

2nd Siren counts as Skirimisher so can roam around quite freely on her own. Skirmisher + solo model means -2 to hit for shooting so she is well protected. Muses Harp should let me stop enemy getting too close as well Manta Rays. Gaint Crabs I just love.

I'm interested in seeing how these armies perform.

I think your first mixed one is the most balanced and is in with the best chance of success. The final magic one doesn't sem to have enough in the way of melee units.

The core units I referred to before that can be combined to better effect are sandgangers and tide watchers.

The sandgangers use the enemy's profile stats -1, the tide watchers can throw their nets over the enemy to reduce the current (but not starting profile stats).

If you manage to throw your nets first the whole enemy unit might strike last (if you're successful) with -1 strength. That means the sandgangers will strike before them with the same strength and a 6 regen save which should even things out.

Ah I thought the TIde Watchers were involved, Ill have to make up a list that includes them.

Playing Nauticans tonight Ill let you know how it goes - also going to try and get more guys in the club interested in them as well. Mentioned them at the tournament I was at last weekend and a few people had heard of it which bodes well

you should post something about them on the following forum

thanks Kiwi, I'll give that forum a go.

I think I've had a few visitors from there to the Battle Reporter blog, it rings a bell.

Let me know how that playtesting goes. I hope the crabs fare well and don't end up in some Empire subway sandwich !
