Is anything going on out there. We had a massive surge of new army books (a new one every 2 months) and now it's all gone quiet ?

The last I heard Skaevn were next, does anyone have any news ?

Here's the rumors/news I've heard lately:

I heard Skaven were next too.

About a month ago the White Dwarf magazine had a list of new Empire models that are coming out.

Also, the Lizardmen Scar Vet BSB is coming out soon (Finally got a listing on the GW site for it.) It looks great!

I've also heard a rumor (I think it was over on WarSeer) that there will be a new Chaos Dwarfs Army Book either late in 7th edition or some time during 8th edition.

I think that chaos dwarf rumor was an April Fools joke. I personally would be very surprised if they ever did a chaos dwarf list again.

From what I have heard, Skaven are up sometime this year and Beastmen are sometime early next. I think the Beastmen rumor is pretty credible, since the army has been severely crippled with the loss of Daemons and mortals.

My 2 cents

Skaven
Beastmen
Tombkings

In that order,GW will never release a Chaos Dwarfs book again.

Wrong! Chaos Dwarfs are in the making at the moment, very slowly as they are totally redoing the concepts, but it is happening. Look for them late 2010/early 2011. This has been confirmed by numorous GW sources over the last few months. It was even in White Dwarf.

Skaven are next up for release in August/September. Then we have Beastmen late this year and Tomb Kings early next year. After that it's Brettonians and then onto 8th edition. Wood Elves and Ogres are not getting new books this edition. There is also going to be one other army book out in the next year, but the name is disclosed right now as it is a new race. Their addition to the Warhammer World will be caused by a new event that has an effect even greater than the falling of the polar gates. They will be a good army, from a place close to the wastes. They are in progress.

Which issue of White Dwarf was it in? I'd love to read up on it.

From a balancing perspective I think they should probably be concentrating most on Beast of Chaos and Tomb Kings before Skaven.

However, I suspect they are thinking more "commercially" than I am.

Anyway forget about that lot, start collecting your Nauticans, they'll be ready before the Skaven book comes out. Kiwi has started putting the pdf together.

The only thing really holding us back is:-

1) the lack of free weekends I've had recently) - being corrected !
2) not enough playtesters

So I am rereading the Ogre Kingdoms army book and I have discovered a short paragraph that describes what I think would be awesome as the next army, the Celestial Dragon Monks.

"Mystical but highly aggressive, these legendary warriors practice enlightenment through violence, and strict meditation and training have even mastered the ability to breath fire and run across water without breaking its surface."

Yea there's a very small bit of info on them in the 6th edition HE book but the best one I saw was for a Cathy army list if I can find it I'll post it.

I'm thinking norse?

they could play like a good side marauder army.

Cathy could be included when you think, and would be awesome. the only other thought I had was a marienburg army a pirate style theme would be good to see
