found this at heresy, looks interesting. I see GW think they may have overdone Daemons. Expect to see more "anti-daemon" stuff in the future:-

Looks like the design team is trying to tone down Daemons with this item. My sorce says it's one of the big debates going on about the new book. Also in the new play test list it costs 50 pts. Look for the release of BoC book to be in the 1st quarter of 2010, my insider says Beast Mutations, Centigor fast Cav, Gorgan and Dragon Ogres are still in the play test list. Also Bestigors got cheaper at 10 pts per model and Foe Render went down to 20 pts.

The only Special character he talked about was a Daemon Prince of Khorne. My source said he the only Daemon Prince in the book. On the modeling front he said the Minatours, Gorgon & Dragon Ogres look fantastic! Will post more when I get free time after picking up the kids."

I was still hoping for a book release near the end of the year but I figured it was just wishful thinking. I am looking forward to this release and I'm diligently painting my beasts in prepreation. With centigors being fast calvary I'm debating on 2 or 3 units. I like the idea of beast mutations as long as they don't get carried away. And with beastigors being a little bit cheaper I can possibly throw in two units. Thanks fopr the info Sigmar, I have been pretty busy and not to in tune to what is happening. I will have to get back at it soon. Cheers! :D

Thing is, someone on the inside, think it might have been Gav Thorpe said that there will be no Dragon Ogres in the Beasts book, and Phil Kelly said it too in White Dwarf a few months ago when WoC was released. Same goes for Trolls and Shaggoth.

Although I am excited about any new army coming out, I have to say I oppose these sorts of changes. For one there is the fluff. I know some people don't find fluff important, but armies are based on fluff. Fluff is the reason HE's are good at magic and VC's are unbreakable. In my opinion fundamental game designs should be based on fluff, and then balanced after play testing. Of course GW might have decided to throw fluff out the window when they made it possible to lead a Khorne army with a Tzeentch daemon. Bottom line, I don't see Beastmen holding the ultimate item to counter daemons; this just doesn't make sense to me (on the fluff level).

Second, I feel this is poor design. If the daemons codex is broken, which I think it is, then GW should just admit it and put out some heavily revised rules. It would make a lot more sense to fix the broken army rather then break even more armies to make them able to compete.

That's just my 2 cents. I am eager to see what they will do with the Beastmen

I agree with teddyw,GW should just make a good balanced army for the Beasties,Mortals are tough,Demons are tough,so Beastmen should be decently tough.

I also like what Teddy is saying. I like the fluff for armies as that is what makes them all different. I'm not a big deamons fan either and I don't think matching the beasts up to them is right, just make them tough as Son of says . Just try to keep things on a more even scale.

@ Son of Khaine yeah gotta love the fluff of the army, and knowing why your army is fighting helps the game more fun for me, even if it's something as simple as utter destruction for the sake of destruction, or even something like more items for the herdstone

on the rumours front, there is talk that the characters will get mutations that will work in the same vein as vampire counts (pun not intended)

Also GeneralofChaos on the Herdstone website posted this from an inside source of his

"Looks like there just tweeking pretty much the same list over and over again now. This one looks like it's going to be wrap. With just a minor twist here or there, but there a 90% chance this is what your going to see come late November/ December.

Lords:
Beastlord
Great Bray Shaman
Doombull [magicial weapons and mutations only]
note- Lords can buy Chaos Armour for 10 pts

Hero's:
Wargor
Bray Shaman
Centigor

Core:
Beast Herd [rank up 5 wide]
Bestigors
Centigors [fast cav]
Warhounds

Special:
Tuskgor Chariots [2-1 choice]
Minotaurs [become core choice with Doombull]
Chaos Ogres
Dragon Ogres

Rare:
Chaos Giant
Shaggoth
Spawns
Gorgon - [stat line: M8 WS5 S5 T5 W5 I3 5A]

New rule change: If your General decides not to ambush, your general can have the chance for Beast Herd units to scout. [roll a D6]
1-2: Beast Herds are drunk and do not Scout
3-4: 1 unit of Beast Herds can Scout
5-6: 2 units of Beast Herds can scout

New models: Bestigors, Mino's, Dragon Ogre, Shamans, Beastlord/Wargor & Gorgon.

Lords can take 100 pts of magic items & 100 points of Chaos Mutations/Gifts. Hero's can take up to 50 points of magical items and 50 points of Chaos Mutations/Gifts.

Some interesting new items or Chaos Mutations/Gifts: [Mutations/Gifts can only be taken once]

* banner that turns Bestigors into Raider's like Beast Herds *
* breath gift * [breaths fire 25 pts]
* extra Two Arm Mutation * [adds +2 attacks to profile 50 pts]
* extra Horn * [adds a extra attack on the charge 20 pts]
* Hoof of Speed [double M5 model 30 pts]
* Stone Skin * [+2 to your armour save 25 pts]
* Staff of Darkoth is a bound item *
* Troll Hide * [50 pts for Regeneration]
* Unholy Beast Strength [+1S for 25 pts]
* Bloodstone Braystaff* [Arcane item that gives a +1LD to Shamans and +2 MR for 50 pts]

Spell Lores: Beasts of Nurgle, Slaanesh and Tzeentch are getting there own new lores. Very close to the WoC new lores with minor change to the lists. For Tzeentch player's I was told boon of Tzeentch is in there.

Inside thoughts from play tester's are: That a Doombull with Chaos Mutations can rival a Vampire Lord as a combat character now. Plus Chaos Armour & Stone Skin give him nice protection at 2+ armour save. He expects Doombull to be the most popular Lord choice!

Also by turning the Centigors into Fast Cav there no need to add flyers into a Beast of Chaos army. Between this move and the new Gorgon & Chaos Mutations, BoC should be able to compete very well in 7th edition."

now to my mind there are some pretty cool things in there, would like to see the beastlord be the combat monster rather then the doombull, but still it does sound promising

:? I was looking for this thread on herdstone and haven't found it yet. The last post I read there was that the new book wasn't going to be out until early next year. If it is still scheduled for this year that would be great. Perhaps you can post a link Thordoc where you read this on herdstone. I am off to work so I won't have time until later today to look some more. Thanks for the info though! :D

New Dragon Ogre modeles might mean I get some for my Warriors army.

The only thing I'm kind of disappointed in (if it's true) is that Chariots are going to be special. Kind of fit as Core in my mind for Beasts.

Yes that will be a bit of a let down but I believe they will be a 2 for 1 special which means it can still be user freindly. :)

aye that's the impression i get, it'll move into the special options but be a 2 for 1 choice, will make the special section busy, mino's, centigors, chariots, ogres and trolls
