Pray for a ward save can we pray twice and increase it. It is worth it. I play the Bretonnias because they will not let us use tanks in fantasy except the empire. I mean real tanks like tigers. Oh well if I had seen flames of war played first I would not be here but there.

In my experience, always pray before a battle. I dont think it stacks if you pray more than once though, . . .

How do you think you can pray twice?!? That's not possible, as you pray BEFORE the battle. What's then to stop you from praying INFINITE time, for a 1+ Ward Save??? So no: you pray only once! :D

I was just being funny because there is no way praying could stack. Praying really cost you nothing but time and with a ward save it pays for itself. My daughter takes leather armour on her HE archers and I have seen that 10 points pay for itself over and over again. Of course she is nine and rolls pink die. Serious only from now on until the next time anyways.

There's also the Fey Enchantress. The magic lord special character for Bretonnia. So she's sort of a schizophrenic general choice, as magic for Bretonnia isn't a great choice due to a paucity of bound items to pull dispell dice. However, she does bestow the blessing as if the army had prayed. Personally, I don't find it worth while, as all you're really giving up is the CHANCE at the CHOICE to go first or second.

90% or more of the people out there think that means they have to go first against a Bret army. They don't realize they can choose to go second. And with our mobility its actually, I think, an immense benefit to go second. Let the other army march forward and thus into charge range depending on their MV characteristic

Yes most people like to go first even if going last gives you a chance to rally troops. The point made by Brett is very correct. Armies start out at least 24 inches apart. Our opponent marches forward 8 inches or more now they are in charge range. Of course most people start out slightly behind the 24 min range.

But many armies also have more than a 4" move on at least some of their units.

On the question: YES. You have no idea how many times I've lost a game because of that Ward save vs. my nice little HE arrows. Grr... Trust me, the Ward alone is by far worth the penalty of not going first, which as said above, isn't really a penalty for an army with poor ranged attacks anyways. Just gotta look out for war machines, really.

Rule 2 for brettonnians (as I understand it from playing against them): Whenever possible, charge with your knights. You want the Lance formation as much as possible. Even against my ASF 2 S5 hits/model Swordmasters, a basic 12 model unit of Knights of the Realm can do loads of damage. All units on the side get to attack on the charge. It hurts.

Not to mention it is fluffy. And why would you not pray to the lady of the lake... the god you worship.
