Grail Reliquae with 15 Battle Pilgrims

6 Grail Knights (with BSB Paladin and Lord)

Field Trebuchet

The untrusty shadow warriors didn’t turn up curse them. (I Forgot to put them on never used scouts before Doh!)

Turn 1
While the Bretonnia’s pray to their Lady the Elven army surged forward. The Elven mage called upon his shadow magic to spur the Dragon knights to charge the knight Errants while the Bolt throwers rained bolts on the peasant bowmen on the hill. The bowmen took some casualties but under the calm leadership of the Damsel stood firm. To the Side of the hill the Dragon Knights smashed into the Knight Errants routing them off the Field. The 2 groups of peasant bowmen and the Trebuchet seeing the mighty knights fleeing from battle, also Fled the battle field carrying of the Damsel to Safety. The battle Pilgrims on the other side of the hill watched as the centre of the Bretonnia line was routed. With the precision of master horseman the Dragon Princes stopped pursuing and just manage to stay on the field of battle.

The Bretonnia knights un-phased by the peasant routing manoeuvred themselves to charge the Dragon Princes and the Spearmen. While the Grail Knights rode around the wood heading for the high elf bolt throwers.

Turn 2
The Elven army prepared for the Bretonnia charge while Elven bolt thrower seeing the Grail knights fired two mighty bolts at the knights the first sailed over the grail knights but the second hit the Bretonnia Lord but bounced of his thick breast plate.

The Knights of the Realm seized their chance and charge the dragon princes which had just enough time to turn to receive the charge, the knights charge was repelled by the Dragon Princes and where chased and cornered at a cliff face where the Bretonnian knights took the offer of surrender from the Elven prince. The second unit of knights charged the spearmen even with the highest training the Elven spearmen was no match for the heavy cavalry, were forced to flee and cut down as the Bretonnia’s got their first blood and showed no mercy capturing the spearmen’s banner.

Turn 3
The Sword masters finally emerging from the woods and with their White lion brothers charge the Grail Reliquae after the elven magics not many of the religious zealots where lefts but had stubbornly refused to flee. The Battle between the 3 units was fierce with the Battle Pilgrims clearly outclassed and outnumbered refused to give up and continued to fight.
With the Grail Knights Bearing down on the Elven bolt throwers again the mighty Bretonnia armour stopped the spear like bolt. The Archers arrows bounce off the Bretonnia armour as the grail knights smashed into the bolt thrower and continued to charge into the next bolt thrower with only the Battle standard bearer horseman ship failed as his horsed ran into the bolt thrower and a shard flew though his visor injuring him but not badly. The Archers seeing this ran to a “better position” in a very disorganised fashion.

Turn 4
The dragon knights were finally in position to get Revenge on the knights that ran down his spearmen the Prince called out a challenge to the Paladin who the lord dispatched easily without mercy while the rest of the dragon knight chased the fleeing knights into the wood recapturing the spearmen’s banner and the knights Banner. The Grail Reliquae was finally dispatched the elves having to kill everyone of the Battle Pilgrims and the refused to surrender while the Grail knights finished off the second bolt thrower.

Turn 5
With just the Grail knights left the Elven commander demanded that the Bretonnian lord should be brought to justice. The two mage obliged one using his shadow magic to propel the dragon knight charging into the grail knights. The second calling down the flame of the phoenix spell upon them. The Elven Prince called out a challenge to the Bretonnia lord who cowardly let a paladin take his place who was dispatch again with ease. The two mighty cavalry units bounced off each other.

Yet again the Elven Prince called out a challenge to the Bretonnian Lord “Fight ME!”, and yet again the cowardly Bretonnian Lord refused and sent a Grail Knight out to fight the Elven Prince who decapitated the poor knight. With the elven lord busy the cowardly Bretonnia lord plunged his sword into elven mages heart and killing a Dragon prince which came to the elven mages aid. With the shamed of not fighting any challenges and the murder of the elven mage, the Bretonnian Lord turned his horse and fled the battle field with his Battle standard bearer and a single Grail Knight

Victory High Elves by 1598 points (if the Bretonnias had exactly 2000 points) Massacre!!!!

I felt sorry for the Bretonnia Commander this battle was so one sided after the very bad bretonnia first turn.

I lost 2 bolt throwers, 4 White lions, 1 Dragon prince, a unit of 15 Spearmen and my mounted Mage.

Conclusion

The 5 Dragon Princes with warbanner only 170 with the BSB with Battle banner was amazing. This unit took out (with the mages help) 4 units of knights, 2 units of peasant bowmen and 1 trebuchet.
This was the perfect game nearly every worked even rolling double sixs for my first unseen lurker spell on the first turn.

I liked this, very noble of you.... "and where chased and cornered at a cliff face where the Bretonnian knights took the offer of surrender from the Elven prince."

...most people would have slaughtered them to a man (and horse), particularly Orc generals :)

Still, I see you made up for it by massacring the Brets and what a massacre it was :)

A very well written battle report - nice one Greggor

Just one question with regards to this... "With the elven lord busy the cowardly Bretonnia lord plunged his sword into elven mages heart and killing a Dragon prince which came to the elven mages aid. "

I thought anyone refusing a challenge had to skulk around at the rear of their unit with their head bowed and honour in tatters. I could be wrong though, especially for Brets because I'm not overly familiar with their army book (although I will check my copy when I get home).

Fine work, Greggor!

Don't forget, RTBs using single shot ignore all armour saves. You should have skewered that cowardly human in turn 2!

i rolled a 1 to wound :(

second hit +4 ward save vs shoting

In the bretonnis set up he hid all his knight out of line of sight from my RBTs

My RTB killed 5 Bretonnias acrcher all game but they did thier job as a threat rather than my Dragon Knights which did most of the damage.

excellent report! Seeing the brets go down (and Grails surrendering!) always makes me laugh very hard. Keep up the good work!
