Are Waywatchers not the best thing ever? I mean, I take 2 units of ten, and a Waywatcher Noble, and I slaughtered Vamp Counts! Those guys just put out an amazing number of shots, and the best part is they actually survived the whole game! they are totally B.A!

And pretty darn expensive too... 2 units of 10 will cost you a quarter of your army at 2k, and if your terrain is not waywatcher friendly, it could be difficult to keep both in sufficient cover to make use of their abilities. One of their best abilities though is how afraid some opponents will be of the ranged KB (even though statistically it happens far less than people fear it does - barring having 20 of them firing of course - then a little more often for sure!)

So you can sometimes utilize them much the same way as a dwarven organ gun, holding down a flank all on their own creating a big 15" kill zone that no one wants to risk heading into...

So yeah, they can rock... but smaller units really don't do a whole lot (on average) but the fear factor is huge... my worry with that many watchers is that there wouldn't be much support left using that many points... that and no treeman....

Treemen are awesome...but Waywatchers can do things the Treemen cannot. Treemen are still going to run in a Wood Elf army simply due to SCR; they might be stubborn, but they still break 1 in 3ish times they have to test and there simply are not enough ways for the Woodies to counter the SCR.

Waywatchers, though...oh, it was sweet watching them shred Grail Knights not once but twice (the guys just switched armies and played one game with brets, one with Wood Elfs) and Waywatchers were the game-winner both times.

Waywatchers are flexible and deadly. March block, skirmish, be those annoying hop in and out of forest, never get into combat, shoot you to death units.

If I can only have a unit of them or a Treeman...I will normally take the Waywatchers. They rock the cradle of kasbah love

i would take one unit of waywatchers and one treeman. good as waywatchers are too many leaves you with a small army of a small army. besides if you take 2 units of 5 take a unit of 10

I actually think that is pretty sound. Having a Treeman gives you at least a shot of dealing with tough opponents who find a way to come to gripw with your battle line. 5 attacks with good strength and tree singing twice is nothing to sneeze at. A kleenex is what you sneeze at...
