My Wood Elven opponent has finally decided on a theme for her army. The problem is, she's lacking inspiration. She wants to paint them in autumn colours. Does anybody know where we could find some pictures similar to that idea or have some specific colours in mind?

I told her to go to the store and take a look at the colours for a start, but she'd like something more detailed.

Thanks for any answers!

lots of inspiration from the Wood Elf main forum: http://asrai.org/index.php

Also the GW site has this wonder range of schemes: http://us.games-workshop.com/games/warh ... uard/1.htm

I agree with both, though I think you'll have more luck with the GW site. In general for an autumn feel I suggest picking lots of earthy tones (browns, greens as your main colors, and rust red colors for highlights) and then using the basing to really bring out the feel.

Also using some green stuff to model some fallen leaves on either the base or the cloaks would go a long way for the "autumn" feel.

Just some advice, hope it helps!

There are also some fantastic winter theme Wood Elves. All light blue with snow covered bases. They look brilliant but will porbably clash with 95% of all the tabletop terrain in the game :(

An autumn theme is a good bet.

She says thanks for all this great advice. She liked the GW gallery. I didn't know about that... *hangs his head in shame*

Winter is ok, but she definitely wants to go for autumn, mostlyy because she doesn't like white and light blue.

Check out White Dwarf #307 Pages 18-23. There is a painting & basing guide for Wood Elves for each season. It looks like a great resource for painting a theme for your Wood Elves. Hope it helps.

I had gone with winter themed myself... looked pretty stark until I threw some lichen and rocks here and there amongst the snow to add a little color... and I clash with pretty much every terrain table going around here!

I have seen a few wood elf armies done in a cherry blossom theme... which looks quite striking when done right... might be worth a check...
