Returned from my final WHFB tournament of the year yesterday and my best finish to date- 9th couldn't be happier.



My overall results were
G1 vs. Dark Elves LOSS 2-18
G2 vs. Vampire Counts LOSS 8-12
G3 vs. Warriors of Chaos WIN 20-0
G4 vs. Dark Elves LOSS 0-20
G5 vs. Vampire Counts WIN 14-6

Once again Dark Elves prove to be my nemesis albeit in G4 my Dwarfs failed EVERY SINGLE, and I mean EVERY SINGLE leadership test they had to take during the last 4 turns - saw my entire army (including stubborn Hammerers with a BSB) run away and get slaughtered.

Leadership also cost me in G2 when my Longbeards w. BSB fled from the VC General after I had his army on the ropes, turned a 12-8 or 13-7 win into a 8-12 loss. Final game could have also gone 20-0 to me had my opponent not gotten freakishly lucky with his crumble rolls after I killed his General at the end of Turn 3. He just kept passing everything.

The VC army that finished first regularly cleans up in EVERY New Zealand tournament the guy who runs it is also the highest ranked New Zealand WHFB player in Australasia and our Masters Champion and he only lost a single point the entire tournament winning everything 20-0 with only a single 19-1 victory to mar his record.

Got to love the 3.33 Comp scoring on the Daemons Army - damn that was a nasty one.

Congrats Kiwi. It's nice to see a big mix of different armies in the top ten list. I notcie that only O&G appear twice. Also, there are several Daemon, DE and Vamp armies near the bottom - also good to see.

TBH people just see a Daemons army and will award it low comp without even looking at how it's put together. I could take a fluffy Nurgle or Slaanesh list and still get panned for comp. I wish people would get over the book now Dark Elves and VCs are just as tough (if not tougher) with their new Army books.

Congrats on the placing though, and sorry to rant about Daemons in your thread.

In regard to the Demons army both players openly admitted they were taking cheesy lists the guy who got the 3.33 comp score had his original list vetoed before submitting the next one.

And this is a part of my issue with tournaments. In a tournament you are playing to win above all else...that's kind of the tournament mentality, otherwise it is just a meet n' greet with other gamers. Therefore you should expect massively cheesed out lists anyway (I am not a tourney player btw). Vetoing a list because it is "too cheesy" just smacks to me that these people can't be bothered to think about how they are going to beat the army they just want to capitulate and moan that somebody made things too hard for them....

hello kiwi.well played and unlucky for the dice that day.makes me want to play in one of those comps.i'm trying to help out a coupla mates who're entering ukGT this year.would you please relay roughly what the winning VC lists and manner of play were like?he sounds a top general

From memory Pete the winning VC general runs a Ghoulkin list with the following

Vampire Lord - Lvl 3/4
- Ghoulkin, Summon Creatures etc
Vampire BSB
Vampire
Ghouls x20
Ghouls x20
Ghouls x20
Ghouls x20
Fell Bats x5
Wraiths x6
Varghulf

Basically he s the entire board with Bats and then just lets you tear yourself to pieces fighting his Ghouls.
