Nice work Guardian, your models look good. I look forward to seeing the rest of your army when you finish them.

Thanks. I actually have planns for making two Maneaters. One of them with an Empire theme, the other I want to pattern after the Orge Gladiator on the inside of the back cover of the army book. I'm thinking a little patience and my Drummel, . . . . . .

I should probably throw together my other Butcher too.

I threw together three Maneaters to add to the ones I already have.

Maneater #1 (Gladiator)

For this model, I cut the club from the hand I wanted to use for the right hand. Then I used a Drummel to grind the hand inside the gauntlet out before glueing the left hand inside the gauntlet and attaching it to the model.

Maneater #3 (Imperial)

I dug around in my Empire bitz a little for this one. I started by cutting the weapon from the right hand, then I trimmed the models wrist a little so the shield would fit properly. Then I removed the weapon from the left hand, leaving the handle before adding the pommel and blade of a greatsword to the handle. Finally, I took a giant feather from my empire bitz to attach to the models head. I'll paint him in Middenheim colors when the time comes. I'm thinking about adding a brace of pistols to this model, but I havent figured out how I want to add them yet.

1 question. In what color will you paint them? I like you painting so I don’t want to see them as a normal color scheme

I almost always paint the first few models by following the GW guides or by patterning them after models in their respective army book. Only once I become comfortable with the models in any given line do I start experimenting a little.

I also did a custom job on a plastic ogre to make an Ogre Bruiser, I'll post a pic of it later this weekend.

I think this will be the last time I "Update" my Ogre Kingdoms army on this particular thread. In the future, I'll post pics of my models in my painting thread which you can find here: http://battlereporter.freeforums.org/guardian-a-s-warhammer-fantasy-armies-pic-heavy-t534.html I plan to continue conversation on this thread though.

Here is a Bruiser custom I threw together last night (I still have three Ogre bodies I'm still throwing around ideas for, one is likely to become a BSB.) I started by pretty much making an Irongut with a Ogre Bull's head. Then I cut the end off of his greatweapon and added the blade from a Ogre Bull's sword to the bottom of it, creating a saber staff of sorts. At this point, I used a drummel to take the chainmail off of two Irongut gutplates, removing the ridge from the inner part of those same plates so they would cup the model's shoulders properly when I glued them in place. All in all I'm pretty happy with the end result. I figure I can use him as either a Bruiser, or a Maneater pretty easily.

Yeah, I have three units of 4 Leadbelchers each at this point, and I want to make sure I have a couple of Maneaters and/or Bruisers with a brace of pistols for that reason as well.

I'm looking to pick up two more Battalion boxes before new years to finish fleshing things out a bit more. Once I do that and pick up a few single models/units (Some Lord/Hero models, Gorgers, Yhetees, Scraplaunchers & a couple more "Official" Maneaters.) I should be in a good place to build my army any way I want it.

Thats kind of what I like to do with all of my armies. I want to be able to field any of my armies any way I want, and I like to play +5000 point games whenever I have the time. Building large armies allows me to do both of those things! :D

nice
il probably never build a 5000pt army lol cos i always get distracted just buying models i like and taking weeks to paint em up good.
Ive never played a battle over 4000pts, and that took about 5 hours, so you'd have had some good day trips plain 5000. Be good with ogres too. you'd have maybe 200 ogres on board vs possibly 1000 night gobbos or something lol. Epic

My closest LGS is well over an hour away, so I dont get to go out and play often. As a result, almost all of my games are with local friends that dont have a collection of their own, so the more armies I have to choose from, the easier it is to talk people into playing a game or two. I've spent more than one afternoon, playing a seemingly endless game on my living room floor while fending off curious cats and a nagging wife!

haha well however you can, as long as you can.
yeah having an army for mates to use is very handy.
I play usually 1000-2000pt games, but against my cousin in canberra we got the whole house to ourselves and we have a big 4000pt empire and my bros dwarfs vs his chaos. Its epic, and more memorable

Yeah, I think games with friends at home are always the best. There's nothing quite like playing a 12 hour game while drinking a 24 pack of Mountain Dew and eating a couple of cheap pizzas. But the best part has to be the 3 hours after the game when we head out to the garage and throw darts while giving each other cr@p about the mistakes we made and bragging about our conquests during the game!

I'm glad you like the customs. The two Gladiator Maneaters almost cost me a thumbnail (Never hold something as small as an Ogre Ironfist in your hand while grinding the hand out with a drummel!)

The Bruiser was an idea that I wanted to try, I was actually a little surprised that it turned out as well as it did. I was afraid that the shoulder pads would be a little too much and that the saber staff would look too long, but everything turned out the way I had hoped.

I'll be primering the models over the next month or so while I paint a couple of other things I want to finish. I'm hoping to start painting them the week of Thanksgiving since I have that entire week off
