how versatile is the Games Workshop Universe for models?

found some nice models on 25-mm bases i thought about using them as my Ghouls as i cant stand the new ones?

the question began, as i know all sort of conversions is legal and addored but ex. LOTR ringwraiths may NOT be used as blackknights even with conversion...

how specific are these rules?

25mm Heroic Scale Fantasy Miniatures
Integral Bases
Unpainted metal models that may require assembly
Huge selection of characters and monsters for fantasy roleplayers, miniatures painters, and wargamers

here are some pics. of those miniatures i would like to use.

I think those models are AWESOME! I'd encourage you to use them. GW has no problem if you use other models for their games, but for OFFICIAL, SANCTIONED events, like a Grand Tournament etc., GW will restrict all participants to use of GW models - but you ARE allowed to use GW models that are prehistorically old though! They're still GW. ;)

You won't be able to use them in GW sanctioned tournaments as these are vents that GW tries to make money on weather through selling models or the entry fee,so that want you showing up with their models.

But if I remember correctly if the model is 50% GW model (not counting GS) then your in he clear.

thx for the answers, yes this is incredible nice miniatures.

hmm only thing im affraid off that they are on 25 mm bases, normal ghouls are on 20 mm right?

but if i change my regiment to 4x3

so 4 ghouls per rank and 3 ranks. then they wont break rules that the bases would be too large and one more figure could have been hit? cause i only got 4 men on the front rank ?

know this aint alot with the miniatures but still a thought :)

You will be able to use them just about everywhere. I have never met a gamer who won't let me use alternative models. I guess, like everyone said above, the only place you might have a problem is in a tournament.

BTW, I was going to use the first model as my Guardian of Time for the Nautican army until I realised it was a standard base model not a monster sized one :(

yeah the size fooled me at once too :P

but a nice miniature,

maybe thought a little about why "these" Ghouls are so strong and big, know that the new vampire counts edt. 7 doesnt have bloodlines like 6th edt. but still you could say my vampire was a speciel vampire, trapped in a crypt for centuries, only to enhance his magic powers to not only resurect but enhance his mininons (in this case ghouls) and bla bla bla. you got an oversize pumped ghoul unit the way they should look :) and lead by my sartosan vampire, think my army will stand out on the field :)

well my next topic will probaly be base modification and patinting these Ghouls :) thx for the answers all in thread

Yup, 50% on GW tables not including GS. independent gaming table could be different.

You could try sticking them on 20mm bases, even if their feet stick over a bit.
or you could try these...
Image
20mm x 80mm Regiment Bases. (five plastic 20mm x 80mm Regiment Bases. Price: $5.40c)

25mm x 100mm Regiment Bases (five plastic 25mm x 100mm Regiment Bases. Price: $5.40c)

use "Gashnag, The Black Prince" pg.27 in the Vampire Counts Rule Book.

I'm not a fan of the new Ghouls myself, I prefer the Classic/ Collector Ghouls.
