Have posted several Vampire Count army list here, but i feel like when you get the first 500 point completely right you cant destroy it later on with new units, so here is a new go at a 500 point list, critique where you think needed.

Vampire Level 1 Wizard w/ Helm of Commandment, Dark Acolyte, Summon Ghouls, Nightshroud = 195
Corpsecart w/ Lodestoe / Balestone = 100
11 Crypt Ghouls = 88
14 Crypt Ghouls = 112

Total 495 pts.

The main setup is:
The unit of Ghouls with 14 stands in front of the other unit, where my Vampire is in, the first unit, get all the summoning, and is my meat shield from magic, arrows to charges, my Corpsecart rides to one of the sides, making sure my Ghouls Always Strikes First, with my level 2 summoning of Ghouls, and Helm of Commandment assistance for my first Ghoul unit they should be able to take on the most hardcore, Nightshroud is in case i lose my first unit and being challenged, i know my Vampire can fight just need him to hit first too :)

well put your 2 cents where needed and remember, a 500 pts. army will be getting bigger as soon i get my Ghouls up and running.

sounds alright. Very light on, potentially mass outnumbered. Would do well against low ld armies. Might struggle against heavy cavalry with good armour saves eg brettonia, empire, woc etc. Particularly brettonia and empire as they can take knights as core. But apart from that has potential to do alright.

Waldo, i thought about that too when assembling this army list,

Ghouls who Always Strike First, with 2 attacks who are poisoned? the idea is to get so many through that they cant save them all, and by number alone i win, + with Helm of Commandment getting the attacks in on these knights wouldnt be a big problem?

My ghouls are gonna run with these stats.

8 point each,
Mv 4 (with the chance of my vampire getting Vanhal's)
Ws 6 (because of Helm of Commandment)
Bs -
St 3 (Poison attacks should make up for the flaw of only 3 strength)
To 4 (though no armor save, they are tougher then youre average fighter)
Wo 1 (as any normal core unit)
In 3 (With Corpsecart riding close, unit will Always Strike First rule)
At 2 (2 attacks each gives 10 attacks on first row without any champions)
ld 5 (can use my vampire if he only stays close enough and only important if i lose)

This way i can... with luck do 3 IoN each turn and with Lodestone i can 21 ghouls each turn.

but thx for answering would love to get more comments, but as i have seen it knights aint gonna be the isue, even my Vampire got Nightshroud so there charge wont matter.

and in a 500 point, i would be surprised to see more then 5 knights if any at all.

I have to say that I like the list, the Ghoul summoning spam is potentially devastating at this point level. But to give you an idea about possible repurcussions I can make a DE army that has 10 Spearmen two units of 5 Cold One Knights and a hero that fits into 500 pts and there'd be room for another 10 spearmen.

No doubt i would run into some sort of cavalry, but even though you got the charge in, fear wont effect me, i will attack first, with 2 attacks each with a ws of 6... i will be able to get your men down, and the great advantage of VC is i can get my back :)

Ran it through Armybuilder, yes you can make this to 500 point, with no upgrades in any unit at all. know my ghouls dont have SB. but if 10 DE attack 10 ghouls i would be sure to win, we have same amount of attacks, + i got poison and higher Toughness.

but thx alot on your input :) will say the one thing i wouldnt be able to take is an all shooting army, magic i would compare in, and plain CC i will would also being able to, as your example there, i was thinking, 5 Dark riders, 5 shades, 10 crossbowmen, and a sorceress on a steed with that lifetaker and magic enhanced, that must be my biggest weakness from my point of view :S dunno if you would agree?

I'm not trying to poke holes in anything here, but if you face cavalry you won't be getting your rank bonus as there is no way I am going into the front of either of those units when I am way faster than you are... hehe

No no am only debating sry if it comes out on a wrong way, english aint my birth language :)

my ghouls are fighting in front of eachother, ex.

----- Enhanced ghoul unit
Corpsecart
----- Vampire unit

dont think youre cavalry could charge me anywhere but front, if u chose side you will get an extra charge in your side the very next turn.

i still think even with poison attacks my empire knights are making 1+ armour saves, and hitting you strenth 5 on first turn, plus the horses.

An empire 500pt army could easily look like this:
5 Empire Knights, full cmd no muso =147
5 Empire Knights, full cmd no muso =147
Warrior priest mounted hv armour, additional hw,= 100
5 outriders=105
=499 army

This army would easily outmanouvre you, and what if the outriders fired 15 strengh 4 shots at your corpse cart? for 2 turns if nececarry?
