I'm looking at the Maneaters in the Ogre Kingdom army book and it got me to thinking. Since they all can be built differently, they seem like they would be counted as a character in the same way a unit champion is. How do you go about choosing which model to remove when counting casualties? Do you just remove the base-to-base model? What about ranged attacks? Or did I just overlook something?

The lookout sir requires 5 models in the unit (other than champion) to be of use. Who puts that large a unit of Maneaters on the field?

I plan to field them in groups of 3-6, depending on the size of game in question.

Thanks for the info guys. After hearing everyone's thoughts, I'm going with the following:
1. WS attacks, I'll go with Base-to-Base damage.
2. BS attacks, I'll choose the target.

It seems to me that I often use larger units than others. But I also think that has a lot to do with the large games I play.

It all depends on the armies involved in battle and the tactics used. If you can keep your opponent from getting behind you, you can usually walk right over most of their small units. On the other hand, if they can flank you, youre probably going to be eaten alive.

A couple of things I do that seems to help with larger units are:
1. Take wide ranks, this will help prevent your opponent from getting at your sides or rear.
2. Keep your units close together to support each other. I treat them like detachments at times.
3. Take a couple of fast units and warmachines to give your opponent a more immediate threat to focus on while your large units close the gap.

They guy who won the last tournament played ogres, now he is a great player and loves ogres and the challenges they face on teh battlefield.

He fielded Tyrant with tenderizer and 5+ward in a unit of 3 ironguts with LO goblar and banner tha redirects spells on a 2+.

He fielded 2 units of 20 gnoblar

a unit of 4 ironguts

2 units of 3 naked bulls

2 butchers with a scroll each, bangstick and mantle for -1 to leadership tests

hunter with 2 sabers

3 rinox riders

and 1 gorger.

it wasnt a bad list and he played it very well
