So, I'm trying to make something special to promote the 40K section, although the forum is bout WHF.

It's just that I felt we are getting too little traffic and discussion.

So, the 40K discussion starts.

This discussion's topic is.... "Gubbinz" (Ork)

What is your definition of gubbinz? What do you think they are? What do you think their role is? and so on.

Share anything, your thoughts, discussion.

I shall post my respones later, when I finish writing my story part!

Ok, this is an interpretation of "Gubbinz" from a person that does not play 40K. So you may think of my response as a blind person looking into your 40K world.

My thinking of Gubbinz is as the Goblins of the 40K world. They are the funnier, shorter half of the Ork army. They probably don't do well in combat, if in combat at all. I think they would be more for scenery or some other non-effective/barely effective unit compared to the Orks. They would be too small or weak to carry a gun, and would most likely be used to drive vehicles, or other simple tasks.

Or perhaps that is what an Ork describes as a weak enemy. Or another weak comrade. For example, "Oh I killed dat weak Grubbinz humie a long while ago." or "You weak Grubbinz Ork! Get on da front linez!"

Just my perception of Grubbinz.

Hmm... interesting interpretation, powner...

But I believe gubbinz is a part of a machine... it's just that I don't know what.

The gretchins (40K equivalent of goblins) are simply refered to as grots in 40K.

No worries, Powner, the 40K background is a big place, and I often get lost in the crazed mystical library of the Tzeentch.

Gubbinz has always been pointed out on a piece of machinery that Meks work on, so my perception would be maybe a reference to possibly a wire and maybe few spare parts that Orks randomly call, because they are either too stupid or can;t be bothered with, due to the ramshackle nature of the Orks.

Anybody share that sense or somethign else in mind?

I'd say gubbinz are the know-wots that comprise many an Orky machine. The engines on my Trukks are packed with gubbinz, as is the suicidal Shokk Attak Gun (I've blown up 2 Big Meks in the 2 games they have been in). Every Orky creation starts off as an idea, but its the gubbinz that will make up what happens when you turn it on.

Not really!

For a self-admitted person that does not know much of 40K lore, you gave some pretty good thought and guess into your answer!

Do you play 40K? If not, you should try!

Of course, that's what I always been seeing.

The Meks always go on about gubbinz and know-wots, and all these beating around bush and not getting to specific parts led me to believe that gubbinz is possibly some minor piece of tech or a bunch of wirings.

Suprising to hear! Even though I don't exactly favour using SAG, I ususally have a good luck with them. With few ocassion where "da big mek" transports himself to the front of termies...

I am planning on getting a Tau army after my Dwarf and O&G armies are done. I heard they are very shooty, so not a big transition from Dwaves to Tau. Then, if I really like 40K I will get an Ork army before getting the next army on the list, Skaven. So from Dwarves and Orcs & Goblins to Tau and Orks, doesn't seem like a very large change really (well except rules and what not). So expect another 40K member by this time next year? Maybe sooner.

I love the tau, they die so easily, just get them into close combat and they are mince meat. Just watch out for stupid moblie tau with frashetta launchers (cant spell) reminds me of a type of cheese.
