So I decided to go through the army and plan what I'd like to make my first list of. This is a highly offensive army that relies on the Khornate Beastigor unit not getting shot to pieces before they get into combat, supported by the Bloodbeast and Centigors in the flanks and/or protecting flanks. The big Beast Herd squad is purely to throw a spanner in my opponents plans whenever and wherever they come on. The Wargor and Bray-Shaman will both join the Beastigor unit, making them Fear causing thanks to the Mark of Nurgle, and a Shaman with 2+ AS with Braystaff and able to cast Call of the Wild allowing them to make a charge or move during the magic phase. :)

20 Beastigor - 240

cool little battleforce there. I must point out one error, because your wargor (which in this list would be your army general) has the mark of nurgle then the only marks that can be given to units is the same mark of nurgle, or mark of chaos undivided, Page 51 of the beasts of chaos armybook

now i know bestigors seem good, but they are a lot of points to sink into a unit that struggles to cause enough damage, even with the mark of khorne.

in less then 1500pts i'd be tempted to stick with an undivided mark (allowing re-roll of psych tests)

now that unit of bestigors ranked 5 wide is putting out 7 attacks (cause the wargor and shaman are both in the front rank) the beastherd above is putting out 13 attacks (provided the gors are armed with additional hand weapon) then the wargor and bray shaman on top of that, it's a pretty good investment for 95pts, you could field 3 of them for the same points of the bestigor unit. A MAJOR way beasts win is by overwealming their opponents and multi charging units at a time.

remember raiders special rule means you still gain a max of +2 to combat res.

I'd also like to see a couple of chariots squeezed in there they can really cause some pain, or more warhounds, cause they can break ranks if they charge in the flank or rear

I must not have seen that Thordoc, so thank you for pointing it out.

Everything else, I completely agree with now. I played a Beasts Army last night at 2,000, and all he took, characters wise, was a level 1 Bray-Shaman and a Wargor to summon a Beast Herd. Apart from that he went with 2 squads of 6 Warhound, 2 squads of 4 Minotaurs. 4 chariots which cause hell for me! 2 squads of 5 centigors, 3 Dragon Ogres, a giant, a small Beast Heard that was 5/5 that Ambushed and a bigger Beast Herd with about 20 models. I went magic heavy with Teclis and 2 level 2 mages and just couldn't blast enough of his units away. :(

multiple small unit armies can cause hell for armies that rely on shooting or magic, and those beasts are fast. they get into combat real quick

I'll look forward to seeing you put up a new 1000pts list =]
