I went to purchase a GW Battle Mat from Maelstrom Games today. Seems that GW have pulled the product. Checked the GW website and they ain't selling it anymore.

This would have been ideal for the gaming table that I'm making.

My mat needs replacing, hence my visit to this topic. Looks like I'll have to go back ot the trusty old railway hobby shop.

I quite like their gaming board but, 1) it seems a bit expensive and 2) I'd rather place hills in a more random position than set places.

Does anyone know how many different hill position combinations there are ?

I have a mat like the warhammer mat. In my town I have a mat shop; there is snow mat, water, sand and so on. If you order a special mat it will be like this a half of it will be in grass and sand with water. This mat is better than the warhammer. On the grass it looks like a riel grass is coming out of the sand.

@Sigmar

Mathmatically, 24 different combinations would make sense. However, the table needs the hills to be on the outside to make sense, unless you like strait cliffs in the middle of the map. I think there are 8 combos that can be used consistently without making the board unusable.

It depends on the size of the bored you want to play with, i would advise using Polly filler and filling the skulls in, well that my plan anyway.

You might be lucky to pick up a matt in the store but they were discontinued a few months prior to the game board’s release. I picked up some felt and have had some issues with it when using custom made movement trays, I find then ten to catch and snag. I was luck a couple of months ago when I was in GW getting my dwarf army up I manage to pick up a gaming matt with 75% off so I grabbed it pretty quick and I like them a lot, though I added a bit of felt on one end in a look and put some dowel in so I can roll it up and hide it away.

The GW made the mat direct only, now.

They still have it on GW site.

You need to go into the "Gaming" , then "Scenery' then gointo Citadel Scenery

or just use this link.
