since GW gave dwarves short legs and 3" movement, they also decided to give them the ability to always march. So we cant be marched blocked. Woot

He said in antoher thread he's going Anvil, so that'll negate the harpies if they're there. I'd also think twice about taking some war machines. A flame cannon would actually appeal to me in this game, likewise, a flaming bolt thrower. No cannons though... only multiple-model-hitting war machines that can double-duty vs the Hydra.

I would pop up a couple units of slayers to lead the march to the objectives, and back them up with Warriors, Hammerers and Ironbreakers. Sac a rank or two of the slayers (they're specials right?) to position his troops where you want them, then flank charge those units with your turn-behind Hammerers/Ironbreakers, and park your two-turns-behind-warriors on the objective once you pursue beyond it.

I'm actually thinking of taking longbeards, warriors and miners and leaving the hammerers and ironbreakers at home.

I'm having second thoughts about a grudge thrower, I don't think they'll be that handy in this game. No one will be waiting around and all the action will quickly center around the 3 objectives so I won't have a lot of chance to fire - unless he brings dark elf repeaters for me to target.

I'm I'm not sure about taking anyone who doesn't own a good suit of armour (I'm assuming Dark Elves are strong in the missile fire department).

Hence, I'm thinking of hiring Dogs of War cavalry units and leaving the Slayers in the pub :)

Is this wise ?

You might want to keep in mind that he may bring a unit of Cold One Knights. If so a unit of Ironbreakers could keep them at bay. Just a thought. :)

Yeah Sigmar,

You said you want troops with full sets of armor, well go for some ironbreakers, they have the "fullest" if thats a word. So take a unit of them, and miners

Have you thought about tricking out a thane for CC and giving him the run that enables him to go with miners for some fast hard hitting action?

Against Dark Elves you will need MR Grungi on at least one unit to protect you from missle fire as you march into combat range. Organ Gun will be priceless, as will a Gyrocopter for stopping him out flanking you.

MR Swiftness on at least one character also essential so you can get some early CR
