Hi all!! I'm having my Empire commission painted at the moment, and when I get them back, I'm planning on a game VS 2000 pts of Skaven, chosen from the normal army book, albeit using the End Times 50% Lords and Heroes army comp. I'm going for relatively balanced lists as I know that Skaven can use all three sides of the "combat triangle" so to speak. While I'm not intending to give them an easy ride, at the same time, I'm not trying to pick completely WAAC forces, to give us both a fair chance of winning, and create an enjoyable atmosphere.

These are the three lists I've written as it stands, and feedback from WarSeer is that they prefer the Lutz's Landwehr list, possibly because of the lack of Huntsmen(which they don't seem to think are worth the points), my warmachine selection, and possibly my willingness to go with Life or Metal over say, Beasts.

Anyway, that said, I'll let you guys get on with reviewing, and feel to post your opinions on all aspects of the lists, as long as it's polite.... :)

The second list is preferable. If you have underspent by 11 why not put a shreiking blade on the wizard? In my experience the more Ld tests a skaven army has to make the better. I've started using a MR gem for my most important unit, so if you (presumably) put some pretty expensive eggs in the halberdier basket I'd recommend giving sort sort of magical protection in there. Granted, a Life mage can get you a 4+ regen save, but if it was me playing Empire I'd tent to have 2 or 3 warpfire throwers as I love them! Still looks like a fun list if you get lucky with the artillery then it can be goodnight Vienna before he even gets into combat!

Hi; that's potentially a good trick with the Wizard carrying the Shrieking Blade. Do I have the pts for it in his magic item allowance(I'm not near my book at the moment)...?

As far as I can see he only has 70 points of items, arcane and a talisman. The sword is good for a wizard as it's not dependent on his ability. All he is, is a fear causing numpty who probably will only hurt a slave. It may of course save him if there is a failed fear test in combat.

How can it if I can't re-roll the fear test?

What I mean is as he causes fear, his opponents have to take fear tests, and if they fail their weapon skill is reduced to 1 making his ability to survive that much greater. The sword doesn't give him a reroll, just an immunity from fear.
