A 12 strong lance isn't bad. But it isn't good. A 6 strong lance isn't bad. But it isn't good. 9 is pretty much the right choice in my opinion.
As for your choices:
The Banner of the Lady is almost never the best choice. Its often a bad choice, often a decent choice.
This is my 2250 list right now:
Lord. Grail Vow, Virtue of Confidence, Gromril Greathelm, Gauntlet of the Duel, Shield, Lance of Artois (Swappable for Wyrmlance if you face primarily regenerators)
This gives you a 4A duelling machine reroll failed hits, and wounds in challenges. On average, every other charge will give you a killing blow. You also have a 1+ Re-rollable armor save.
BSB - Grail Vow, VoDuty, Warbanner. He's 3 static Combat res on his own.
Damsel, Barded Warhorse, Holy Icon. MR 3 Babe to protect your eggs in a basket.
Truthsayer. 265 point level 3 wizard with a spell to make peasants unbreakable, give you back one model for each unit in your army, give a unit +1 to hit, nullify an enemy war machine, etc. This guy is important for armies like Vampire Counts- as a level 3 wizard with + 1 to dispel-and fairly low cost high value spells in his own list for other lists.
9 Knights of the Realm. Full Command
9 Kinghts Errant Full Command, Errantry banner
20 PEasant bowmen. Skirmish, Braziers
3 Pegasus Knights, Full Command.
5 Mounted Yeomen, shields, musician. March block, or take out war machines deployed on the opposite side of your PK. Also amazingly effective to rear charge units your opponent foolishly lets ignore them. 5 MY can rear charge high elven spearmen in the rear and easily win.
Grail Reliquae with a total unit strength of 25. This is your anvil. Put this thing out front and let him get stuck on it, so you can flank charge with any of your knight units- though my advice is to use your.....
6 Grail Knights, Full command, Banner of Defense- with your Lord, BSB, and Damsel it's a US 18 unit with 8 static combat res, more than a dozen WS5 S6 attacks, a 2+ armor save, a 4/5/6 + Ward save depending on the source and MR3.
That grail knight unit will require too much of your opponent's army allowing the other 1400ish points of yours to run rampant, OR will be too maneuverable allowing it to decimate your opponent's army that tries to avoid it to engage the rest of your army.
