free miniatures ? spamming ?? what is all this ???

have I missed a trick here.

I don't suppose anyone has some friends who'd be interested in joining our forum and really getting it off the ground ? We got 2 new joiners yesterday but they haven't posted yet.

I notice lots of people are coming in and reading the threads though. Maybe we look too threatening :)

Nah, it's not the looks, it's the smell. Smells like... like... rats! Oh... Maybe I should take a shower after dealing with my allies.

Ok, you're on.

I have a few of minis I don't want. They're not actually GW minis but from a company called tin soldier uk. They're 25mm not 28mm and probably best for roleplaying games. If anyone wants some then let me know and I'll email you for address.

PS. Only regular forum contributors can apply.

Well, I just joined in today. I saw your info from the Traitor Legion forum and I love chatting about Warhammer Fantasy. I look forward to trying to be as active as I can, though I unfortunately am at college so my time online is sometimes limited.

fwiw, I have been involved with a lot of communities over the years, both large and small.

there is a danger in having a low population and massive amounts of boards...for one it makes it exceedingly difficult to keep track of conversations and threads, the last post column just indicates the last post, not that there have been multiple that you missed in which case you need to click into that forum...lots of clicking is annoying

secondly when building a community like you are trying to you want to highlight that you have very active messaging community, which you get from having a very active forum...one or three very active forums.

If you were start over on this I might just aggregate all the different armies into 'Order' and 'Chaos' boards, then you would end up having a lot of threads very active in just a couple of forums and lets lurkers read through a lot of like minded threads, army comparison threads, etc etc.

I see a number of forums that have last posts of May, which may indicate that they would have been better off as a number of topics under another thread.

anyway, lots of forums that are sparsely busy are less attractive and likely to bring in new posters then are a couple of really busy forums where the sense of community is grown organically.

oh, and being able to change the color scheme would be a good thing as well, that seemed to be broken when I tried earlier.

take it all with a grain of salt, thought I would just give you some feedback from my perspective :)

cheers!

Thanks for your thoughts fer. I'm thinking about what you said about reducing the number of forums. I was hoping that we'd have more members by now so it wouldn't be an issue but I think you could have a point.

Regarding the colour scheme, I've changed the "override user style to 'No'" so you should be able to change the style to whatever you like now. Let me know if it works.

I'll leave you ideas about reducing the number of forums open to discussion. What does everyone else think ?

Whoops ! I've just changed the override user style back to yes again. I lost my style and I'm worried everyone else will default back to another style which might upset them until we have discussed. I need to work out how a user can choose their own style first, before I remove the default one, just in case they want to keep it like this.

I think reducing the number of forums is an idea, though I personally like seeing a forum for each army. While I can understand the lack of information about each one, I would instead charge the moderators of each forum to create topics that either stir up debate or bring up information for the forum members to read and comment on.

However, switching to a smaller number of threads could help things, its up to you Sigmar.

I reckon you should have a main "Army" fourm then have all the topics as sub fourms from that...

I quite like having a separate thread for each army really. I think the only issue is we need some more members to help fill them up a bit.

I have been guilty myself of posting very little in the Beasts of Chaos thread so I can understand some of the other forums looking a bit bare because it does take quite a bit of work to think up ideas and get some discussions going.

I think we will get more members over time and then, probably, we'll be pleased we have separate threads for each race so it's easy to find what you want to talk about.

We'll leave it as it is for a while and see how we get on. If we don't grow in the next few weeks then I'll consider merging the posts into a single army forum.
