HA! He does look native American!

I'll start an Omaha Empire Army :D
(I chose the Omaha tribe, 'cause that's what I have a little bit of in me.)

"Hey, Chaos: Yoka HEY!"

I didn't think about that he looks like a native american.
Really nice.

Just a few more classic Empire figures of my mini museum. The halberdier with leveled halberd came from a nice little selection of troops that were all had sockets in their bellies so that you could choose what weapon to glue on. The choices were halberd, crossbow or sword'and'shield. I've got a few of these. The halberdier with his halberd raised is painted in the scheme of my army: Red and black with one or two quarters striped or checkered with white and either red or black.

And apologies to you young bucks here, but THIS is how a greatsword should be: BIG and METAL!

They both look good. Love the old Greatsword, you've done a good job on the feathers on his hat, the shading has come out really well there.

Superb painting as always. Would you agree that GW miniatures used to have more character than they do nowdays ? My perception might have been influenced by your painting though !

I'm posting them on the miniature slideshow. Thanks EC.

I don't think they necessarily had more character; Better faces, absolutely. I also think they have less detail (a good thing) allowing painters some space to paint and interpret as they want.
Today's models have so much more detail, so many items sculpted onto the figure, there's barely enough room for three brush strokes of one color. My favorite figures are those with a good balance of detail and good areas to paint on. But, judging from the Warhammer games I've seen the past few years, players don't paint as much. I bet GW tries out prepainted minis in the next 5 years.

P.S. For an example of the balance I prefer in a mini, check out Copplestone Castings. Good detail, crisp and easy to paint. (Also, the Glory of the Sun range might have some good alternate Empire figures. :) )

I think the models reached their peek in the last round. Some of the older models like a few of those you're posting are massively out proportioned, especially in the hands, but most of GW's stuff was entirely hand carved then, now there's allot of computer modeling that goes into it. This last batch of Enpire troops I realy don't like, way too much detail in them, just looks messy. The last plastic swordsmen/halberdiers/spearmen/handgunners set was amazing! So adaptable! A little repetative when it comes to heads, but otherwise so adaptable!

Oh yeah, and to the point, Amazing Painting skills mate! I wish I had that patience!
