I recently purchased a couple clay shapers to help with my sculpting, so I decided to try a couple capes. I think I hit upon a method to make it easier to sculpt capes. I'm not quite sure yet how I'd go about making a step-by-step post here, so trot on over to my blog for a quick visit!

Here's the figure, by the way, that big cape was for:

That's the longest cape I've ever seen! Good job sculpting, looks very natural.

P.S. But a Superman symbol on it  .

Change that sword to a Hammer and you have Sigmar (the hate to say it real Sigmar)

Oooh, a Sigmar mini; never thought about that.

I don't think it's too long; I prefer to call it "heroic" scale :D

Here's the completed mini (painted and based). See, the cape is just the right length :)

So, hmmm, find a hammer and maybe a Sigmar mini...

As I started looking through this I have to admit to subscribing to the 'the cape is too long' camp but seeing the mini painted it looks great. Shows you that it can be hard to judge these things before the paint is on! :D

Yeah- that wax effect is from the Foundry paints- they have a bit of gloss finish to them. But a matte coat will easily kill that shine; I was just in a hurry to get this man-beast photographed :D

The cape looks great and I notice his hair is suitably windswept in the same direction.

Personally, I'd rather be a Chaos Warrior with the associated armour because this Conan fella must be mighty cold !
