Fiongolfin, your answer is pretty simple. There is a build out there, easily findable, which absolutely wrecks WoC based on choosing the correct buffs, debuffs. It has had a lot of success in a series of tournaments and intense side playtesting. Despite what some people claim, it is an effective and...

They place generally middle of the pack. As Confounded pointed out in his epic work, there are stronger books and the weighted factor of stronger players tending towards the books that are, or are at least are perceived as stronger helps weight the standings. I am sure you have more points than 99% ...

Maybe you should make a study of the army in question. At first beastmen were supposed to be about their monsters. When the monsters proved...over priced and [email protected]...they were dismissed as garbage. Tey they are consistently placing well on the tournament scene, with top players with long histories of...

bad strategy that won a major tournament. Must not be as bad as expected...

Clearly a very, very effective strategy that garnered a great deal of respect from a wide gaming community.

One that has tremendous synergy with the army and works wonders.

new edition rules help with this issue; since all units have to be 1" apart except when in combat, you can safely add 1/4 to 1/2" to the outside of the base. this allows you to put easy to grab stuff...one guy puts little markers opponents get when they take his standards which have to be ...

if you listen to the bad dice podcast he has some pointes on how to do it that is reputedly pretty effective. He blasts "shedloads" of dice, mass debuffs....ends up hitting Chosen on 3s while they hit him on 5s, with no strength...even then he figures to lose most combats but use Crown of ...

also depends on points. Example, playing a 1000 point game, with the idea you MUST have 3 units means the warriors, even in min blocks, suck up all your points real fast and even in the new age of infantry are not going to be fast enough to get where you need them when you need them...largely BECAUS...

depends on type of gaming...are you playing in a tournament or in a casual gaming group? does the group tend to play friendly lists or hard ones?

2 slann is considered not a very friendly list, but if you do...he has a discipline that allows him to only be hurt by magic. pretty good protection if he is out on his own.

the Hydra has long been an auto choice...one of the most undercosted, over powerful items in the game.

It is LESS so now than before...but still something the vast majority of competitive DE players take.

how exactly does a WoC play defensively and well? Outside of the cannon, they have essentially no range...you can do more damage with your missile troops than they can with the cannon if they are just sitting back. Second, you should seldom take so much damage from a cannon that they earn points off...

You will struggle with high T, high w enemies...but within the constraints you listed, that may just have to be a fact of life. Experiment with it a bit, you may find if you use warhounds, one larger block better than 2 smaller blocks, and, if you are using marauders 5x4, remember a single casualty ...

so many to choose from, but one favorite has long been the epic combat: My Shaggothcharged the front of a Temple Guard Block while my hero-supported Knights charged the flank. Next turn a unit of Saurus flank charged the Shaggoth, only to be flank charged themselves the following turn by my Marauder...

I use one from time to time. Depends on what type of games you are playing and the make-up of your army. In many ways, it is a unit you need to build around. It basically functions as an unstoppable but unreliable* augment spell for one unit at a time. Get the right augment at the right time, it can...

important to remember...they can prevent rank bonus, but unless they have more ranks, the unit being flanked remains steadfast. For what it is worth..Dragon Princes work best charging an already engaged unit that has been worn down anyway. They still need to break on the charge...I know you said red...
