Something I found in an old issue of White Dwarf (#267) that I thought you might be interested in for your Nautican army. Its not a terribly long segment so I'll just type it out. If you want to know more I can send you the instructions for how they made theirs. Hope it helps!

"Trogagobs are by far one of the more unusual types of Goblins. They are Goblins that dwell in the sea, making coatal raids against the Empire, Tilea and even raiding the shores of Ulthuan and Lustria. Recently, many of these ocean dwelling Goblins have been sighted on Albion in great numbers, in the muddy southern tip of the island that has come to be known as Trogland. Troglagobs can have greenish skin like their Goblin cousins, though most tend to reflect a more seaish green such as turquoise or similar blue green color. The hands and feet are webbed like that of a frog making them exelent swimmers with exceptional speed. Troglagobs actually have both gills and lungs, allowing them to breathe comfortably above and below water. However they will not venture too far from their aquatic habitat, as they need to refresh themselves at least every few days of else they will dry up and die."

0-1 Troglagob Units (Rare Unit) 5points per model.
Troglagob M 4, WS 2, BS 3, S 3, T 3, W 1, I 2, A 1, Ld 5
Trog Boss M 4, WS 2, BS 3, S 3, T 3, W 1, I 2, A 2, Ld 5
Unit Size 10-15

Weapons & Armor: Hand weapons & Javelins

Options:
*Trogagobs may exchange their javelins for short Bows for +1pt/model
*Promote one Trogagob to a Trog Boss for +8pts

Special Rules: Animosity, Fear Elves, Aquatic, Skirmish, Trog Javelin & arrow attack count as Poison Attacks.

Aquatic: Expert swimmers, treat marshes, rivers, streams, lakes and other water terrrain as open ground. When in such terrain they benifit from soft cover.

Skirmish: Trogagobs fight in loose formations, as such they are skirmishers and follow all of the rules governing skirmish troops.

Poisoned Attacks: They coat their weapons with ichor from poisonous sea monsters. All arrow and javelen attacks count as poisoned attacks. Note: Poisoned attacks wound targets automatically on a To Hit roll of 6. If you need a 7 or more to hit, the poison has no effect and cannot wound automatically.

Thanks Guardian, all source material and ideas are useful.

Were you thinking that an additional "Troglagob" type of unit would be useful in the army ? As a rare unit maybe ?

I had considered this...

"...water terrrain as open ground. When in such terrain they benifit from soft cover."

But decided to prevent Nauticans from ending a turn within a water feature. I thought it was potentially game "breaking" if for instance a Nautican Deep Diver (speargun) unit was in a swamp and could not be attacked by the likes of a Chaos Warriors or Vampire Counts army.

Considering the nature of your army, you could almost get away with using them as a core or special unit instead of rare(After all, they would probably be pretty common). I posted what was in White Dwarf 267 almost word for word without much thought about how the unit would affect game play. I just brought them to your attention so you could use/alter them if they interested you, or you could steal a couple of ideas if you didnt want to use them.

To be honest you could almost build an entire army around this kind of Goblin (Warbosses, Shamans, Crabs for mounts, a warmachine that throws spiked puffer fish through the air/water{Cound be as simple as a rock lobba with a conversion for the stones}, River Trolls, etc) Using models that are easy to come by would make building a core part of the Nautican army much easier, after all, most of this kind of Goblin would be simple conversions and/or different color paints. At present, I want to build a small sub-army (1000-1500pts) for each of the different kinds of Goblin I have recently descovered. Red Goblins, Troglagob & Fire Kobolds are pretty high on my priority list.

I think WD made water features "Soft Cover" as a way of countering some of the bonus a unit would gain by hiding in water. A lot of it would depend on how much water you had on the map.

Hope some of the Troglagob information can be put to use in your army.

Conversion Info: Cut the boots off a Goblin and replace with the bare feet from a Goblin Wolf Rider (20 Wolf Rider legs come with a Goblin regiment box, so one box should get you everything you need). Then cut down a Goblin spear to the right length and sharpen the tip to make the Javinen. Paint the Goblins skin "Hawk Turquoise" to give it a sea-like color. The rest of the model is painted normaly.

I like your conversion tip. It has occurred to me recently that I should probably do away with my plan to start a new Chaos or Lizardmen army and actually focus on building a Nautican one. I think it might be good to promote the army list with a few nicely painted units.

I'll keep the swamp goblins in mind in case they might be required for draft 3.0. At the moment I'm just waiting for feedback and planning some of my own playtesting.

I agree that a few painted units, or even a full army (Even if its a small 1000pt army) would build a lot of interest in the army. Being able to post a battle report with a small, fully painted army would be awesome.
