the rule is missunderstood. one unit refers to the profile and there for you can have 4

you guys are getting way off topic again, this is a Vampire Counts thread not a Green Skins thread. if you want to keep talking about O&G please use it's respective thread.

yes back to VC advice.

Mate, just try out different tactics for yourself, and see what suits you and what you enjoy playing with. As you can see from these replies even us few people have varied opinions of what works best, so forge your own opinion and army too, and enjoy the losses in finessing your list.

well if Zombies are a hard subject to discus, why not try the other question about Special characters Konrad & Manfred the Acolyte?

Also, what do you think of using named heros like Konrad or Mannfred in 1000pt games?

Konrad in any game smaller than about 10,000 points is a bad, bad idea unless you put him in a unit that has a high leadership guy. He tests for Stupidity on a 6. Well, okay, he tests for One Bat Short of a Belfry on a 6, and half the time is Stupid, half the time Frenzied. Which means, if you have played the game for long, he will pass it nicely when it doesn't matter, but when it totally messes up your battle plan, he will promptly fail in epic fashion and get himself and any Vamps around him killed...re-killed, I guess, since they are Undead. In fact, that might be his motto: "Konrad, the Vampire who takes the Un out of undead".

If you can hide him where the ineffectiveness of his 145 points will not matter, then sure, play him. Other wise, he is a high risk, moderate reward guy in an army that is more typically low-risk. VC do what VC do...slow, steady, implacable advances that cannot be stopped, slowed, or effectively redirected.

Konrad goes where he pleases and when he pleases. Plus, he is easy to kill.

Might be an extreme example, but he ran into a unit of my Chaos Knights, was alone because the guy using him did not want to lose use of a unit if he went Stupid. My Knights had khorne, so my Champ had 4 attacks and a save. Since they had S5, Konrad had no save. Konrad did hit with all 3 attacks, but all three were saved and in return, the Unit Champ got overkill.

Yes, Chaos Knights are stupendously awesome. They are still rank and file...and Konrad is fragile enough to be taken out by them. With ease.

Which, in my book, means putting almost 15% of your points into him is kind of like saying, "I enjoy being on the receiving end of Massacres".

It may be a harsh, hastily formed opinion...but when you can take a Vampire Lord with Infinte hatred and Tomb Blade for just 30 points more (losing Red Fury and Bat Short), put him in Skeletons and have a good chance of raising more warriors by doing what you do best, it just does not seem worth it to me.

Of course, this is also based on watching a guy playing with Konrad in a 500 point game fail his first 4 tests...

lol I had never heard tldr before. I am going to have to co-opt that one.

As a history fiend, I have been accused from time to time of being overly wordy. My apologies.
