Alright team, time for new discussion:

Other than the Invocation of Nehek, which is the best spell from the Lore of the Vampires. Keep this in mind: A Necro can have all three necromancy skills without rolling, but a Vampire still has to roll. So which spell do you silently pray for when your rolling for spells during the "Generate Spells" phase...and why?

Love Curse of years, but even better after i got Wind of Undeath on my lvl 1 vamp here the other day.

let me start to say he has master of the black arts (witch gives him +2 Casting Dice) so my lvl 1 vampire have 3 dice's each turn

The Spell is a high spell, 12+ witch is hard, but with 3 dice's there is a fair chance (taken without Dispel Scroll's from your enemy army)

The Spell is simpel, here is what it does for those who dont got the book yet.
Roll a D6 for every enemy unit on the table. on a 4+ it takes a wound with no armour save. place a new spirit host within 12" of the vampire, with a number of wounds equal to those inflicted.

so not only you get to dmg all enemy units, there is no line of sight or range on it, lovely against single char, chariots, or dragons?

+ you get an extra unit, so now its a damage all across table, + summoning, a must for VC. but this isn's crappy zombies its SPIRIT HOST!? an Ethereal Unit, with no movement penality in any terrain, with 4 attacks? perfect for hunting mages, archers, or warmachines, + and this is why i love it,

lets say in a 1250 pts. game you play against High elf, going with 2 mages, boosted for magic dmg, they cant harm this unit, and either can his Dragon Princes, with your vamp close by and with helm of comandment, your spirit host can ignore high elf strike first, get a WS 6 and your strenght of 3 is enough compared with there toughness of 3.... i know they have armor saves, but hey 4 attacks go easy in, then 1 knight should die, you maybe lose combat resolution, but... you have stopped them 1 turn? removed 1 knight maybe more? and next turn you can make Wind of Undeath again, supported by any one of your units, so you can go for autobreak on his best unit, i have used this to my big amazing, i slaughtered my friend with his high elf army, i lost 1 vamp and 10 ghouls out of 1250... he had 3 swordsmen back in turn 6...

I would have to say my favorite is "Summon Undead Horde". I play elite armies, so having the 5D6 zombies is nice. Once, i raised 29 on one roll and wiped out a unit of Knights of the Realm using my 2nd favorite spell, Vanhel's Danse Macabre!!!!!!

Curse of years is great vs non-magic armies because it effects them in their magic phase 2.

Winds of Undeath has to be the best - wounding your opponents units and getting Spirit host to run around as well, just awesome

Curse of Years is my personal favourit, if you get to cast it (Even though your wizard cannot cast more spells else it breaks due to the rules for spells in play rules) The opponement have to start hes magicphase by trying to dispell it before he can cast any spells at all. Means, if he fail to dispell it on 3 dices he might have to try again or let it run out for that phase aswell, and you will propbably use it on some armored foks.

But I think in hes dispell phase (round 3 with Curse of Years in the end of the magic phase) he can choose to wait and see if I'm able to cast any other spells that could be more gamebreaking, before trying to dispell Curse of Years at the end of the magic phase (when Curse of the years activates)
