I've been playing around with 2,000 pt Ogre Kingdom army lists recently and I'm not sure I'd feel very confident taking an army into battle without any Gnoblar support.

Has anyone tried it ? If so, how did it go ??

I think they are probably pretty essential against shooty enemies to act as a missile shield. Even against other rank and file foes, I wouldn't be too happy at giving away my flanks or foregoing the opportunity of Gnoblar flank attacks.

Having played against Ogres a fair bit you can do without them quite easily. Even against those opponents who fielded them at most they would have 1 unit and it would basically sit in a corner occupying a table quarter.

Yes they can have an army without them and be successfulbutGnoblars fill a very important role in a OK army by being cheap and happy, otherwise know as fodder.

im much happeir when i see only ogres. When their is a unit or 2 of goblars now i have to be a little more careful. I think they fill a very importan role in ogres armies and should always be fielded. If the opponent just puts them in a table corner they do not understand the true value of a 2 pt model that provides ranks, baiting, or counter charge value. Sillly ogres.

and sigmar i almost didnt respond to your ogre threads just so you dont win the most hits for the month lol

I agree with Sever - except for the bit about not responding for which I might dock 10 karma ;)

I reckon the old gnobs are a must inclusion in a tournament army where you;re not sure who you're facing. They are SO cheap, you're not losing much by adding a couple of large units and you could gain a lot.

I'd say even table quarter grabbing is a worth while use given that the enemy will need to try to do something about it and divert other units or give up the quarters without a fight.

I'd rather use mine in combat though as enemy rank bonus erasers and frenzy baiters.
