Ok, here's the deal. I'd like to hear from people about cheap methods of creating your Warhammer armies. Anything that costs a lot less than normal but can still represent the right thing in Warhammer is acceptbale.

For instance, there is the classic method of creating skeleton units by building some models out of spare arms and having them rising out of the ground (effectively, you glue an arm to a base). Or you can use the old Bretonnian Bowmen from the 5th edition box set that everyone seems to sell off cheap as archers in an Empire army. Or even using goblins or free company as slaves in a Skaven army (I do this one personally myself - painted right they look great, and have a packmaster at the rear of the unit whipping them on!)

Share your tips and tricks for being a cheapskate.

Ebay. :P

Squad of High Elf Spearmen and Archers for £7, including postage and package. Bought over 20 swordmasters for less than 1/3 the Games Workshop prices. Currently watching a big Beast Herd of 47 models for about £10 including postage. :)

ebay (ebay is your friend. Your dear, dear friend.)
-Bruces Warhammer Collectables (Discount prices, but you have to message him for a price list)
-Hoard o Bitz (If its current and its plastic, this guy will be selling it in pieces. Great for buying what you need to use those left over bitz.)
Chaos Orc's Superstore (This guy is great, easy to work with and reasonably priced.)
FRP Games (Tons of great stuff, including the best selection of terrain I've ever seen.)
The Bitz Barn (Keep an eye on this site, you can find some good stuff there if you watch for it.)

CHEAPSKATE UNITE,SHAPE OF A OF BUCKET WATER.

Anyway,I've been thinking of using the mass of Empire bits that I have to convert my Skaven up abit, just to give them more diversity and such, also I think it could show the experimental weapons of the Skaven nicely.

Go to bitz swaps. Sell/trade your unused bitz to game stores, and other players. You will be amazed how much you can get back in return. I have added 3k to my dark elves, and started a 2k eldar army doing this; plus other projects. (Yeah I know I have alot of bitz). Look at places like the bitz barn, or battlewagon bitz and see what they price for bitz. Talk to guys doing convserions and offer the bitz for cheaper. Or straight across trades.

Also if you are a good player. Scout out local prize tournies. If you think you can take the competition then sign up. Getting a battleon box for a $5 entry is always a good deal.

If you play brets, you can buy KOTR and convert them to GK(KOTR only cost half as much as GK).
If you are good with green stuff you can make a body to spare arms, heads etc.
