Hello again :)

I have a doubt about charracter mounting a charriot.

I understood on rulebook that they can only join to charriot units, but there are only special charriot unit for some armies or a singular unit of 1 charriot is a unit also?.
so, the character mount on charriot can join a single charriot? (p.e. dark elves charriot)

thanks!

A single chariot is a unit as well as multiple chariots banded toghether are.
And yes, a character can be fielded on a chariot. If you deploy that chariot and other chariots as separate units, then they cannot join anymore. You MUST field the character in a chariot of an existing unit of one or more chariots. Got that?

not sure that I wellunderstood.
with dark elves (the army book I have)
- character (80pts) on charriot (+90pts)
- charriot as singular unit (100pts)

then I have two charriot, only one singular unit. and I can deploy them on a single unit or separately. the way I deploy cannot be changed futhermore.
is that right?

thanks!!

Wrong...

Dark elf chariots can never be banded together.

taken from Rulebook:

"Chariot Units:
Some Armies, most notably the army of the Tomb Kings of Khemri, can group several chariots together into a unit. If chariots can be grouped into units, this is indicated in the army list, together with any special rules that apply to specific cases."

So in my knowledge it is only Tomb Kings who can band chariots all others have to deply them seperately.

I could be wrong about this but I think a Dark Elf character in a chariot can join a unit of chariots and leave it when he wants to.

This is in the character section on joining and leaving units (page 72)...

"...during the course of a battle, a character is allowed to join a friendly unit of troops - infantry, cavalry, unit of chariots or a war machines crew, but never a monster, single chariot, unit of flyers, or another character! In this case he becomes part of that unit until he decides to leave it."

So a character cannot "jump onto a chariot" but if he's in a chariot he can join a chariot unit.

I read this to suggest that it does not matter if a chariot "unit size" is 1. A character can still join that unit.

I think this reference...

"Chariot Units:
Some Armies, most notably the army of the Tomb Kings of Khemri, can group several chariots together into a unit. If chariots can be grouped into units, this is indicated in the army list, together with any special rules that apply to specific cases."

... refers to chariot units, not character units (ie a character in a chariot)

I could be wrong though, I don't play in tournaments where the real experts reside.

I would think that in the case of a character ridden chariot it will be seen as a chariot and not as a character in the case here, again I would think they are refering to the Unit of several chariots in TK where you can have a character in one of those, but that is also clearly pointed out in their Rulebook, all other chariots to my knowledge can't join toether into 1 unit.

well, I understand that a unit of 1 charriot is a unit of charriots, just it cannot take more than one.
if a character can join units of charriots, then it could.

maybe the question is if a single charriot is a unit of charriot. if so, I think the character can join.

and if I have two character I can join them with a charriot and have a happily unit of three charriots to go the roman circus and play together :)

I wonder, if I use 4 chariots (dark elves) in a battle, it will e a good strategy?

well... I'm no expert either, that could be cool to do imagine 3 chariots hitting a large unit in the flank ;) 3d6+3 Strenght 5 hits ;) AUCH!!

sorry guys...I found the rule for it...

Rulebook quote:

Page 72 "a character is allowed to join a friendly unit of troops - infantry, cavalry, unit of chariots or a war machines crew, but never a monster, single chariot, unit of flyers or another character!"

sry to ruin the day...

I would say the rule is definitely clear - only TK chariots can work together as a unit to my knowledge. Thus no other races' champions, riding in chariots, can join their chariot to another chariot to make a unit. If they do, that's patently a unit of two chariots. Which cannot be done.

In army books they optional mounts for some characters is a chariot. Also Necromancer may use a corpse cart as a mount.

Maybe it means during the battle, the character cant join the chariot. But must be fielded with the chariot as his mount.
