One thing I like about the Dogs of War army is the ability to field units from different races, meaning a variety of different minis can be used. As an example, I use wood elf glade riders as light cavalry in my army (obviously using the light cavalry rules). Due to the nature of the army, they don't look out of place.

I'd like to know if other people also do this and, if so, what you do. Whether using games workshop minis or from other manufacturers.

It seems like a lot of State Troops and Militia make it into DoW armies too. I know that when I play a DOW army, I always pull my models from the other armies I own to build the army.
