So, I currently plan on buying some DE stuff, and honestly I do not know how DE rolls out. (Never faced them)

So, my first question is, are Dread Lords useful?

So the second question goes, that is Dread Lord with great weapon or additional hand weapon useful?

So, I hope I get some quick response before doing something radical!

my main oponent is a DE player and though he loose alot he runs a mast (we only play 1500 atm) on a cold one with hydra bladeis mildly annoying but due to his gimpy str its not as deadly as it should be.

don't use Hydra blade in my opinion.

Use Grimson Death and a magic armor... 3 attacks is enough with 6 WS and 6 S ;)

It all depends on what you want your Dreadlord to accomplish. I don't use one in my 2000pt army. For bigger games it depends on what mood I am in. If I am going against alot of heavily armoured guys or monsters I put a Dreadlord on a Dragon with Caledors lance, 2 null talismans and Armour of Darkness. I also keep him under the protective umbrella of the Ring of Hotek in my Cold One unit until I am ready to strike.

If I am going against tooled out characters or hordes I take a Lord on foot. She is my Corsair Queen, and I use the Queen model from Avatars of War. She usually put her in one of two different units. Either with my Corsairs with the Sea Serpent Standard, or my Blackguard with the Standard of Hag Graef. She is equipped with Armour of Eternal Servitude, Hydra Blade, Potion of Str, Sea Dragon Cloak and shield.

Put in smaller games I find a Hero is good enough to get the job done. My Dreadlords only come out in Legendary Battles.
