The Advertising images will soon be removed and reputation and the shop & cash mods will be added back.

Freeforums disabled these even though they are being paid for by monthly subscription. I have asked freeforums when they will be added back but it should be soon because the monthly payment ($10) goes out from my PayPal account today.

I note that other freeforum administrators have had similar problems in previous months so I suspect it is the timing of the monthly payment. If possible, I will pay upfront for a year to prevent a recurrence.

I bl@@dy well hope so ! I think it will all be on our form database some where so once the mods are switched back on it should be ok.

Do you want any help paying for the site Sigmar? I'd be more than happy to stump up some money to help pay for this place.

The payment for the Premium Mods (reputation, shop, link bar, static pages etc) went through today (2nd Nov). I have emailed the transaction details to Freeforums.

Thanks for the kind offer. I'm happy to pay for the site myself (it's just $10 per month). I was hoping that our eBay adverts would make us some money towards it but so far they have made only $0.43 in a week. I'm hoping that one day we might break even !

If you're really keen to support the forum you can click on the eBay links (when they're back up) at the top of the page and make your miniature purchases after clicking one of the adverts (you don't have to buy the advertised item, just anything from eBay).

Or you can click on the "Donate Now" icon at the bottom of the screen. This allows you to pay $ into the freeforum account. I cannot take these dollars out they can only be used to pay for forum mods like the reputation system or for the removal of adverts. Freeforums takes a cut of the dollars through (I think about 20%) so it's actually 20% cheaper for me to just pay them in cash through PayPal.

However, I'd welcome any donations to keep the forum going although I cannot offer anyone any preferential treatment even if they do donate.

Freeforums haven't come back to me about the premium mods yet, I hope this doesn't mean it's bad news ! We're now paying for something that we're not getting

Reputation is back, the links and static pages are back and all of the adverts should have gone now (let me know if you see any).

I'm having an issue with the Shop and Gold Crowns so we'll have to do without for the meantime.

Any news on the shop/gold coins Sigmar?

I am considering leaving the shop/gold coins mod switched off.

I think the forum has benefited from not having the shop/gold coins mod on recently. It was leading to a lot of (in my opinion) and I think the quality of the posts has improved since it was removed (less posting for gold crowns). I also found the I found the "shelf" avatar images (under your signatures) a bit distracting at the foot of each post (although I could switch the shelf off and switch the gold crowns mod back on).

One suggested I had was to only allow shelf items for achievements. Eg. you can have the hammerer of the month award on your shelf if you have won it in the past, the same for painting awards or best tactician awards etc.

Anyway, I'd be interested to hear your opinions on whether you want the shop and gold coins back and how we should use them.

I am reluctant to pursue the forum warfare game now because I think it will lead to a flurry of spurious, unwanted posting so people can collect gold crowns for warfare upgrades.


Note that : Freeforums might discontinue support of this mod because they say it does not work properly and they will not transfer it to a new server (we'll have to find another similar cash and shop mod) if we migrate to a proper domain (eg battlereporter.com) which I'm quite keen to do.
