Good guide Axinous, the only problem is how customisable the Daemons list is. In my past two games I have taken completely different lists and I now have a third one that has swap in options for other units. Due to this versatility things can be really difficult. Ring of Hotek will only protect one unit, and if you take a High Sorc on DP and I go with an all Khorne army I'll have a huge magic resist capacity and your magic defences will be wasted points. However, I do know that many Daemon players do max out on the stuff that can be countered as you suggest. Dark Elves are funny because they are quite a small army in and of themselves so your movement phase is of vital importance if you want to challenge the Daemons. You don't ever want to take a Daemon unit to the front (with the exception of Horrors) you ideally want multiple or flank charges (and Elves are fast) to deny static CR as you can quite happily just grind out Daemon units due to Instability.

Also, I wouldn't expect Reapers to get many shots off, either a flying Greater Daemon or Furies will ruin their day nice and quickly. Even things like Fiends are fast enough to take on a war machine crew. You just have to pick your targets carefully and focus fire on one until it isn't a threat before moving on to the next.

True Engineer,

Thats why knowing your opponent makes a huge difference in how you prepare your force. Granted I have played in quite a number of tournies, and found the most common combo's out there for Daemons are: Nurgle(Epidemius)/Tzeentch, and Khrone/Tzeentch. There is no love for Slaanesh. Most tourny players dislike Seekers, and Daemonettes. Toughness 3 being seen as to prohibitive with only a 5+ ward save. Every unit in the Daemon army can be countered in some fashion. It just takes some planning and creativity.

I don't expect my Reapers to do alot either. They are some of the bait I use. I just focus on a unit that can give me my points back quickly like Bloodcrushers, or Heralds Chariots, etc. Once a unit has taken the bait I have my unit flee off the table for a failed charge then counter charge the next turn. If they ignore them I keep plugging away. If I loose one I lost 100pts. If it sets me up to kill a unit of Seekers/Flesh Hounds, or Screamers great! As for Chaos Furies. I haven't seen anyone take them yet. With a Ld of 2, alot of Daemon players I have talked to hate the unit. The Blood Thirster is always a tough nut to crack. But if I can sacrifice a unit that costs 100pts to pull a 500pt+ Greater Daemon out of position. I have already won.

There is no easy way to kill a daemon army. Its always a fun challenge.

Problem is with Furies is that although they are EXCELLENT at clearing Warmachines, people would need to reduce the number of Horrors or Flamers they take and therefore they chop them out. Personally I love Daemonettes, plop a Herald in and you have an ASF unit that chucks out a horrific number of attacks. Throw them up against most core infantry and they will slaughter stuff. Same with Seekers, give them a Herald with Etherblade and you have an ASF 4 attacks that ignore armours saves, gives a nice surprise to someone.
