SO frankly I was wondering how many Skaven lovers we have out here, and more importantly, who has already decided to either START a new Skaven army, or to 'upgrade' their current army to the new models? This is a topic mostly on MODELLING, so what choices will you make considering old and new models, conversions, color schemes, etc?

Let me start by saying that I intend to replace my ENTIRE current army by a new one - every model get to be bought anew, and painted in a new color scheme and basing. When I started about a gazillion years ago, I never really thought on army look, but this time I have very definite, very concrete plans on looks, composition, etc. But more of that will be revealed in a coming blog. Probably.

I'm starting up a new army based on Clan Pestilence with a Clan that they have either conquered or allied with for support,as such my army composition is going to be very Plague Monk based revolving around 2-3 large units (25-30) of Plague Monks,Plague Furnace,Censor Bearers and Maybe a Plagueclaw catapult.

But seriously...im definitely getting skweel gnawtooth, and that could lead to an army.

Having said that, I won't be 'upgrading' any of my models as I already have around 2000pts. However, I will be adding new troops (and have already ordered a box of the Stormvermin) to try and take the army to 3000pts.

I can't bring myself to do it. I have a few boxes of Skaven stuff at home but seeing my 40k Ork army I can't bring myself to spent 200+ models for an army.

I'm seriously, seriously (!) tempted but I think I should concentrate on the Nauticans for now. If I can hold out, I'll go for the Beastmen early next year (Spring) instead.

How do you know beastmen will get a book in the spring? aren't those just vague rumors?? could be years from now. might as well get some rats

I'm thinking about getting some eventually, ether the Clanrats or the Stormvermin. to go into my Vampire Counts Army, They'd go great with my rat necro{Throt the Unclean}

My friend will start a new skaven army. We have decided to make them with plenty of convert using green stuff. If I can I will make those pics. W well use the screaming bell, doom will and plenty of other stuff)

I have just had a thorough look at the new army book (I didn't look very much at all rumours on rules until I saw the real book), and truely it has improved much - mosty in the fun sense! A lot of new units/ weapons, and the Bell is more fun than ever! The book really emphasizes on both Warclan/ Skryre clan on one side, and Pestilence on the other. Not to say that Eshin and Moulder don't get their fair share, but it is obvious that the writer intended for players to be able to write a Pestilence only list.

I find the Hell Pit Abomination cool in it's background, but ruleswise very, VERY hard - Dark Elf Hydra hard, if you know what I mean. Probably I WILL try to model one (as there is no official mode for it), but I doubt I will PLAY it. It takes out a lot of Skaveness out of the game I think.

Oh, and the Bell is so big now, it counts as FIFTEEN models! FIFTEEN! OMG!

Can't wait to get my hands on the new models...drool!

Did you get the chance to check out the Plagueclaw's rules?

Also since I'm not building the Screaming Bell what would you do with the Rat Ogre that comes with it?

I was thinking of having him hold something up while preparing to stab it,to take advantage of the pose he's in.

I have been pondering that question myself too, and really I don't know. The model has this really impossible position to do anyhing believable with. Maybe rip something apart that he is holding down to the ground?

I'll have to get my hands on the model and see if there's anything you can do with it.

I'm going take full advantage of everything that comes in that kit,Grey Seer,Rat Ogre maybe the giant bell,but I haven't figured out what to do with that yet?
