there is no chat in wood elves so.... are the rules for long bows to good. glade guard have str 4 @ close range and can move 5" with no shooting penelty and can move through woods as normal ground. even chaos warriors have problems against them and they are 3 points more basic. also waywatchers have killing blow. combine that with moonstone and nothing lives. so are these bows to strong?

No I don't think so. Remember that they only come with ordinary Glade Guard, which are troops you do not wanna have to much: all in all, they are still T3 and NO ARMOUR. Have a good solid unit of heavily armoured knight head for them, and they're toast. Sure, they might be able to shoot one or two off before they hit home, but even 3 knights can wreak havoc on such units.
And ofcourse: they are easy to kill with your own shooting too. Remember: T3, no armour!

Not at all for several reasons.

First, Glade Guard are squishy. With T3 and no save, they are super easy to kill and at 12 points per model, it hurts to lose one.
Second, they require some real tactical ability to maneuver well. I have seen people block their sight lines, take the GG out of range, and several other things that render them ineffective. Properly used, they at least give a fighting chance...though the WE can still be outshot by their cousins the Dark Elves, do not have the flexibility of the High Elfs, and with at best a -1 for all but Waywatchers, they have a hard time with high save units.
Third, since they are very crumbly if the enemy army can come to grips, they need to whittle the enemy down a lot prior to close combat, because the unit that gets into h-2-h with GG tends to win quite handily. So it makes up for their weakness.
They are pretty balanced in my opinion, though I could be wrong.

it might just be me but 12 points is good. yes they are squishy but with a free wood they hid and move 5" a turn with no shooting penelty. and acturly i like lots because the trees make up for t3

They certainly have the potential to be lethal. My High Elf army was wiped out by a Wood Elf army once. I have learnt a lot since that battle though, most importantly, you have to deploy cavalry and / or flying mounted characters against Wood Elves !

If you're out of cavalry then Wood Elves are a pain in the backside !

If you want to see a Wood Elf army cry, take an all Nurgle Daemon army with heralds loaded out in units. 5+ Ward save and a 4+ regen save mean you get next to no casualties as you march straight across the battlefield.

It's weaker than it was in the previous edition, IMO. In the previous army book wood elf bows had 36" range and no penalty for shooting at long range.

If my Wood Elfs were against a Nurgle demon army with heralds...I would shake my opponents hand and look for another opponent.
The old bows were 30" range and armour piercing at half range and no range penalty. I like the new bow rules.

Was that in the Ravening Hordes list?

Indeed it was. I enjoyed the ravening hordes WEs. I miss the Dryad aspects and the Treeman's one punch attack (A 1; S 10;causing D6 wounds). Oh the good ol' days *sigh...

Wood elves got nothing to complain about. if in doubt....Treeman time! (make sure its raining so theres no fire around)

And their bows are indeed justified as for 12 points you get nothing for close combat. thats roughly five points just for their special bows.

Ah. That was during my time away from the game. I loved them in 5th edition, my opponents never used to be able to get close before being shot to death. These days Wood Elves seem to be much more of a close combat army. I still love them but they play much differently.
