hail of doom arrow is awesome whoever uses it. I've never played a 750pts game so I don't rightly know how it will work.
I run with an Alter Lord, amarthine brooch (3+ WS), arcane bodkins (no armour save arrows), bow of loren (shots equal attacks) and a GW, thats 5 no armour save arrows a turn flying into knights, best way to deal with cavalry I have found. and when the enemy get too close, charge in with 5 S6 attacks. This guy hasn't failed me yet.

Seems somewhat contradictory. Spellsinger will be your only magic in an army that size, so should back up magic powers. Hail of Doom is great but belongs more on Noble for higher leadership with army. Dividing your forces counteracts virtually every known axiom successful leaders have used, and weakening your abilities would seem to be part of that philosophy.

I would be more tempted to drop in a Dispel Scroll or 2 as defense against power dice heavy armies like the VC if I went defensive or maybe a Power Stone or Staff of Sorcery for offensive purposes.

Iggys guy is awesome. I have faced that guy (not by Iggy I do not think) and he tore my Chaos Knights to shred simply by being on a hill at first and being more maneuverable later. Cannot hit what you cannot catch and he is certainly a terror against high armor save troops.

Jee wizz i can see iggys dude smothering my s3 empire knights. Youd have to keep him in combat. Better losing there than letting him shoot.

Has anyone here used Orion before? If so, how did he perform?

I reckon if ur gonna play a spellsinger youd hope to either dominate the magic phase, or disable it. Dispel scrolls or arcane items/spites

Can I make a remark that in 750 points you cannot take a Lord choice? The Alter Lord config will not fly then. But, all in all, a very powerfull character indeed, but since he is Alter, he may not join any unit, which makes him very, VERY vulnerable. A few rounds of shooting by let say even mere Bretonnia Peasants will most likely off him. Keep that guy out of sight is my advice!

I use him a lot in 2500pts+. He works well, but not if you use him on his own. Like a lot of things in the wood elf army he works better with a unit. Personally I field him (without hounds) in a unit of wild riders. Adds to his hitting power and survivability.

In response to dims, a wise general would see he is vunerable to missle fire, the 3+WS helps with this but at the same time I field other units that are juicier targets that my foe can't afford to ignore with there missle fire (ie. Wild Riders and Tree Man). The 9" movement and 30" bow usually also keeps him away from missle fire.

Unless, you up against Dwarves. Then your dead. . Quarrellers, Cannon, and if your close enough, Thunderers and Organ Gun.

But if your really far away, all you have to worry about is Bolt Throwers, Stone Throwers, and Cannons from any army.

That is true, I find dwarfs the hardest army to fight. The way I play my woodies I need to charge/win/break in the first round of combat or bad things tend to happen. Stupid dwarfs and their T4 and good armour saves. When I know I am facing dwarfs I let out a sigh and accept the fact it will be a LOOOONG game.

powner you belive to much on your missile troops. if he is in trees 4s to hit. -1 trees. -1 for single model. -1 long range. 7s to hit. he is not going to die there. stone thrower would scater. bolt thrower see above. cannon is hard to get accurate on single model. if they all miss you have wasted a shooting phase

stone thrower would scater.Yes, it could

bolt thrower see above. Bolt thrower with engineer would be this:
Base 3s, then Trees 4s, Single Model 5s

cannon is hard to get accurate on single model. I'm pretty good at guessing ranges, and it goes straight if that's what you meant. A single model is no different then a unit, guessing range wise.

if they all miss you have wasted a shooting phase
